Hi everyone !

In October 2015 Lenovo launched its new Yoga Ultrabook. It is said to counter the bad battery life of the precedent Yoga 3 Pro. The other thing is that it has really interesting specs again with the brand new Skylake processor. Fortunatly on this matter they also droped the m-core version for a full core processor i5 and i7.

The specs look promissing and the ports also became more adapted to the pros. 2xUSB3-A, 1xUSB3 type C and you can even use the AC for a 3rd USB.

Anticipating the new Macbook Air skylake release I was wondering if there will be a possibility to install El Capitan on it knowing that the Yoga 900 comes with either Core i7-6500U or Core i5-6200U and graphics processor Intel HD Graphics 520.

Being a satisfied customer since 3 years with the Lenovo Yoga 13 running on OsX (Mountain Lion to Yosemite, I'm looking forward to find a way to make it work on Yoga 900 as soon as apple releases its skylake machines.

There is one important thing that I need to know but I can't find any answers on the web. Is it possible to swap the Intel Wireless AC-8260 (2x2:2 802.11ac) and install an OSX compatible mini PCI-E half size from Broadcom ?

Thank you in advance

Wait for real Skylake support in OS X from Apple. You will probably need to wait until said Apple laptops with Skylake arrive.

For the skylake answer I totally agree.

Then concerning the wifi BT card I checked the Lenovo Yoga 900 manual and it says

7
Intel 8260 2x2AC+BT PCIE M.2 WLAN NV SAR
SW10A11647
N

I see PCIE M.2 so it should be possible, no ?

Best regards

Lenovo is known for locking down their systems.... You can try to install a BCM94352Z and see what happens.

It is ! I'm using my Yoga 900 to answer this post. I have to use a USB Type C to HDMI initially for display and perform the OS installation.

Works:
1) keyboard
2) LCD display ( not accelerated but displays at 3200 x 1800 only)
3) Wifi ( using a USB wifi )
4) CPU - 2 cores
5) keyboard backlight

Not working ( still looking for the right Kexts )
1) trackpad
2) no audio
3) internal wifi
4) bluetooth
5) touch screen
6) accelerated graphics

Thanks !

Please provide complete details in your profile/signature
(Profile/Settings link in upper right corner of this site)

Mobo: manufacturer/model + bootloader(Clover/Chameleon/Chimera)
CPU: detailed CPU model + motherboard chipset
Graphics: all graphics devices + laptop internal screen resolution

For example, typical Ivy laptop:
Mobo: HP ProBook 4540s (Clover)
CPU: i5-3320m/HM76
Graphics: HD4000, 1366x768

Use CPU-Z on Windows to find CPU (Core iX-xxx) and motherboard chipset (HMxx), and graphics capabilities. For a laptop, these details are important and affect critical installation procedures.

Note: When specifying your bootloader, if using Clover legacy, please be sure to specify "Clover legacy"). Specifying "Clover" will be assumed as "Clover UEFI"

Thanks RehabMan.

I have updated my profile.

For now, I'm using a J5Create USB3 to HDMI have audio through my monitor and have a 1080p resolution. The 3200 x 1800 makes text too small and its tiring to keep increasing the fonts when browsing.

Still no luck with the trackpad, graphics card, internal wifi, bluetooth and only 8GB is shown when I actually have 16GB.

Thanks.

I don't see a laptop in your profile or signature.

You need to implement QE/CI so OS X can use HiDPI scaling.

Still no luck with the trackpad,

Which trackpad is installed in the laptop?

internal wifi, bluetooth

Need compatible hardware. Refer to the FAQ: http://www.tonymacx86.com/el-capita...faq-read-first-laptop-frequent-questions.html

and only 8GB is shown when I actually have 16GB.

Try config.plist/SMBIOS/Trust=true. Otherwise specify the memory configuration manually (in config.plist/SMBIOS/Memory).
