Specialist announced on Bloomberg that Apple is currently working on several new Mac models, and a cheaper monitor.

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/arti...c-new-mac-pro-smaller-mac-pro-cheaper-monitor

We could have this year :
  • A redesigned iMac with an Apple Silicon SoC
  • A new Mac Pro mini with an Apple Silicon SoC
  • A new Mac Pro model, with the same enclosure and still with an Intel CPU
  • A new monitor, cheaper than the Pro Display XDR

I am personally very hyped with the new Mac Pro mini rumor.
Today Apple offers only two models for desktop computer. The Mac mini is however too limited for a large amount of users, and the Mac Pro is simply too expensive for non pro users. There is a large gap between these models and I feel like Apple doesn't offer any alternative for these users like programmers.
Until nowadays they had no choice but to give up on Macs or to build hackintoshes. However Apple's jump to ARM based processors for Macs is a big deal due to the end of Hackintosh as we know it, but also considering the benefits of Apple Silicon SoCs.

(We) Hackintoshers are a market share that Apple would really benefit to gain by offering an Apple Silicon mid range desktop with advanced capabilities like an extended connectivity and allowing user hardware maintenance on ram, pcie, drives... and with a fair price unlike the G4 cube in its times...
What do you think ?

This 2019 Mac Pro refresh is the best news for us: One version is a direct update to the current Mac Pro and will continue to use the same design as the version launched in 2019. Apple has discussed continuing to use Intel processors for that model rather than moving to its own chip.

If it is true then that will extend support for Intel Macs even longer. Good news ! Hackintoshing isn't dead yet.

After playing with some ASi Macs, I decided to keep my Hack going for this year at least.

I do wish the GPU market wasn’t so upside down though as I’d love to upgrade my RX 580

1) Bloomberg Tech Articles don't have a good track record. See the Amazon/Apple Chinese spy chips fiasco. That said, most of this story is just an amalgamation of existing rumours, or community speculation.
2) Apple's SoC is such a performance monster primarily because of the unified memory model that all the cores interact with(which is integrated directly on the SoC). Which I'm guessing likely means user serviceable memory isn't coming any time soon. I would like to be wrong about that, because apple's pricing on memory and storage is absurd.

The industry is very different from the past. When Macs transitioned to Intel CPUs, Intel was the one who made rules. Now the one who makes rules is Apple.

I wouldn’t necessarily agree. It seemed from early on Apple had significant sway over Intel. The first MacBook Air was a custom design specifically for Apple (released 2008, and if I was to guess on drawing board at least in 2007 or even 2006 when Apple switched to them). Apple also dictated they wanted beefier iGPUs throughout their partnership. I’m not sure if intel was reluctant on that last one, as it appeared more of the industry needing gpu acceleration anyways. Prior to the MBA though, I don’t think any intel partner ever had that kind of dictation and control over them, despite being larger sales numbers (dell, hp, Lenovo, etc). The problem as evidenced recently, intel just moves too slowly to incorporate Apple’s demands, or the "expense" is too much (not much stopping PC competitors benefiting from Apple's demands down the line).

I've been Hackintosh since 2012, mainly due to economics. I simply can't afford a Mac Pro, especially the latest model! As you suggest, I would indeed be interested to move back to the legit Apple desktop systems if they come down in price and still perform.

It's funny how Apple uses the word "Pro" so inconsistently. For headphones, iPhone, and laptops, "Pro" just means a little more power, ports, and build quality. But for the desktop computer systems and monitors, it's become code for "no individual can afford this unless you are a thriving business working in one of these four very specific industries"

My thoughts exactly. And, the current cost of a MacPro-actual - decently configured, is never going to make financial sense for my purposes. An intel MacPro refresh clocks us another four to six years of macOS.

I’m already using Mac mini M1 for my work: Xcode in short words. And I also used Macbook M1 for a couple of hours... amazing performanc/value.

After that I never ever buy any x86-64. Maybe in future, when other companies/all idustry will be ARM.

Waiting for iMac on M1, this is will be ultimate machine for me.

Hackintosh... not my choice anymore.
