Another quick update:

I was not happy with the riser card as I had original installed it. This is a stiff flex cable that you have to form a fairly sharp bend to assemble into the machine.

And the drive mounting bracket as designed has to be placed into machine prior to inserting the GPU. This is shown in the NFC video if you are interested.

I cut a small block of ABS plastic, 0.250 inch thick and inserted it as shown to raise the GPU which lets the riser cable bends to relax a little thus reducing the pressure on the PCIe x16 connector.

And I modded the drive mounting bracket by cutting off the left end and adding a spacer plate. The plate is from 0.080 aluminum with 4 holes threaded 6-32, This allows the drives to be serviced with out pulling the whole system apart.

And I went back to using the fan mounting bracket as seen here.

That is it for now. I have a 2 TB 2.5 inch hard disk on order for this system. And I will swap out the Windows 10 SSD.

Very nice build Neilhart!
Nice to know you're a z270 Asrock fatality owner, this can help on know this little motherboard with TB functionality.
I chosen it for my hack pro mkII  because of the compact format.

Did you tested the Thunderbolt support?
I have a Apple TB display that works "intermittently": sometime boot ok, sometime black screen and I need reboot, unplug, and plug in first seconds to get monitor recognized.
Other z270 fatality users had same issue with other TB devices...

Also, there is a section or a moderator specialised on TB-video support?

Thanks

I am sorry but I own no Thunderbolt devices so I have not tested that tech and have no opinion to share. I suggest you use the search function and post query in the Post Installation > Graphics area of the forum.

Do you think using original Apple WiFi card can be achieved with any Thin Mini-ITX motherboard?

Yes as there are adapters available for MPCIE and M.2 that will mate up and can be used with the BCM94360CS2 WiFi/BT radio card. I have used both on my collection of systems. I usually use EBAY and purchase from China and get the parts in about a week.

any particular adapter for example?

That one wouldn't really fit into thin mini-itx (surely not at really small cases, like DNK-H or LP-2150 thin mini-itx was designed for), but I've found out that does (still have to test it).

Anyway, initially I didn't consider replicating your build, manly because I was using 1080p monitor and had no reason to use discrete GPU, and now I got 4K monitor and want 1440p HiDPI on it, and currently you can't do that on intel graphic cards.

Do you think using monitor stand like that is the only option to mount S4 mini to the monitor without making it fall from the table?

Or can it be mounted to monitor directly, like on this build?

I see that you have generated a solution for your hack. Good work and good posting.

I have a whole other set if issues; I have and maintain a goodly number of systems and I share displays, keyboards and mice. For example I have 5 HDMI devices connected to my one 4K Smart HDTV. Plus I have three PC monitor displays on my desk with a 1920 x 1200 HDTV on a wall mount above and to the right of the desktop.
