Good luck with your project. The key is the motherboard and tray have to be line to line to fit... and I have never seen a MB tray that was that narrow.

neil

thank you for the encouragement ...:p
The advantage of the project is not to touch the case, so no risk.
I will initially try to work around the mATX tray. It will take some time ...:problem: Until then , may be, Bitfenix will announce a new mATX case :p

The front cut-out ruins the look of the case for me. Other than that, fantastic work! :)

It was right ! Bitfenix will offer his own mATX Prodigy.

For my part, I abandoned the project to fit a mATX motherboard in the Prodigy because I've an opportunity with a mITX GA-H67N-USB3-B3 (exactly the same layout as the mATX GA-H67MA-UD2H-B3, both works fluently under SL 10.6.8)
So I bought a Prodigy, assembling it with mITX board but finally found the case too bulky for my desk . Finally I made my own small scratch build case (20x38x14cm) :geek: who fit perfectly under the desk.

Long life to SL
:p

Hello Neilhart,
am thinking to do almost same type of MOD you have done.
my questions or to be more correct interest is from what case did you remove those PCI slot setup seen in this picture http://www.1neilhart.com/white/4-3-PCI-Slot.jpg
so I can find and buy that case.

I thought that I had documented that in the thread but I don't see it now. Take a look at Newegg: DIYPC DIY-6811BK Black SECC MicroATX Mini Tower Computer Case with 1 x 80mm Fan and here is a link: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811353008

This is very similar to the scrap case that took my parts from. It is a shame to use new money for a case just to get these bits. If there is a electronics salvage shop or recyclers near you might get a suitable case for nearly nothing.

As I recall, I drilled out the pop rivets, a good number, to free up the bits that I wanted.

Good luck with your project. And you should document efforts and start a thread.

Hey Mr.Neilhart,

I'm an novice at modding, and to be a honest an beginner at it. However i have brought the bitfenix prodigy mini itx and have decided to copy your guide to it. I looked at the black and white mod and i believe the white one would be easier as to just mounting the motherboard on the actual spot and letting it dangle a bit? Sorry if its not technically correct or anything.
However the question i would like to ask is that @ this pic

You seem to have put it in the original motherboard spot and screwed in whatever you could. From what im noticing, you didnt screw in the right side of the motherboard correct? If correct would that lack of screws result in an circuit loose or electrical risk? If not can you tell what exactly you did to the motherboard because it looks like the left and middle half has been screwed in but lastly the right side didnt.

Thanks for the help.

Please go back to post # 1 where you will see this photo:

And my project was very early on in the Prodigy production. BitFenix now markets a version of the case that accepts a Micro-ATX motherboard which would be much simpler.

Good modding,
neil

Hi neil,

I've read on one of your posts that you switch some of your machines to clover, can you post a guide for Asus p8z77-m pro, ? have to patch the bios in order to boot?

Thanks in advance
