Hi all,

I'm looking to build my second Hackintosh but it is for a completely different use than my hackPRO I built for video editing, so I need some advice. This one will be to replace a late 2009 macbook that I am currently using as a media server with attached external 3TB hdd. I really like the mMediapc 7000B case since it blends in well with existing components such as Yamaha tuner, etc. So here are the components I am looking at (mostly from the buyers guide).

I'm thinking that I would hdmi the video to a Yamaha RX-V373 5.1-Channel AV Receiver which would then relay video to my HD projector via hdmi. I like the GA-B75M-D3P mobo because it has S/PDIF Out for audio to the Yamaha for surround sound but then again does this build support hdmi audio out to the tuner? The nMediapc case supports a blu-ray player and with http://www.macblurayplayer.com I would be able to watch without a stand alone player (which clears up some clutter).

Does anyone have any thoughts about this case and these parts being used as a media center/server for media room and 3 additional apple tv's throughout my house.

Thank you,

Thank you,
Looks like a nice little build. Needs a few platter drives for storage of all those DVD/BR rips though
You could do HDMI out if you want - see http://www.tonymacx86.com/hdmi-audio/70765-mountain-lion-hdmi-audio.html

Looks good to me. The only thing I could suggest is to maybe get rid of the SSD. If it is purely a media PC SSD speeds IMHO don't warrant the price. Some people will disagree though so to each his own. I couldn't believe that price on the i3. That's cheaper than the Sandy 2105 version was. Jump on it before the $15 off expires on Newegg.

Hi pwalth21,

I do actually have a couple of laptop drives lying around not getting any love. One is 320gb the other 120gb so they might make for a great dual boot media computer. That would save me the SSD $$. I love the speed at which my hackPRO boots up but your point is well made if the media server is on 24/7. Great call, you just saved me some doe!

Finally got my HTPC put together and I posted a time-lapse build video on YOUtube for anyone interested. http://youtu.be/DHKkVsihMGQ. I hope to do a build description here someday when I'm not so dang busy.

Thank you all, here at tonymacx86.com, for all the great info and help! I couldn't have done it without you!
