Hello,

I have been using wi-fi for the past 5 months, and yesterday i want to use the LAN instead,

I connected the cable to the router but it did not work.
I tried it in windows and also it did not work, in windows device manager it is not showing my ethernet.

I am using the built in LAN on the motherboard.

Do you guys think it is bad?

Thanks

Which kext are you using ?

I have custombeast, it was working fine, but now it keeps saying unplugged.

I ran Windows on a second hard drive and windows did not detect my Ethernet.
It does not show that i have one.

Is there an external nic i can use that is recommended for SL?

I guess custombeast uses R1000SL...
Try my kext: http://bit.ly/RTL81xx

Either a hardware problem... Or some quirk in the BIOS...
Sometimes, clearing the CMOS/reflashing the BIOS solves this.
Don't forget to load optimized defaults and reconfigure your BIOS.

Good Luck,

After removing the airport card, the lan is working now, i also updated using your driver and now i can see it as active in network utility it was always showing before as inactive even though it was working..

Your driver also got my netgear nic working so I am happy.

Thanks.

Quick question when there is no airport card installed so no wi-fi and only using LAN connection, does it show an icon next to the time like when you have Wi-Fi or no?

You can select in System Preferences' Network Panel whether to show the airport icon or not.

but when you are connected using lan does it show an icon or no?
