Hi everybody,
this is my very first computer build, but I really want it to be a hackintosh. I am a computer science major and I've done a few hardware repairs in the past, so I know my way around a computer well. However, I am not entirely sure what to look for in compatibility. I started out by looking at the buyer's guide and then tried to customize for what I wanted. What are you thoughts?

1) Motherboard - ASRock Micro ATX DDR3 1333 LGA 1150 Motherboards H97M PRO4 - $93.99

2) Stoage - Samsung 850 EVO 250GB 2.5-Inch SATA III Internal SSD (MZ-75E250B/AM) x 2 (dual booting OSX and Windows on different drives) - $104.00 x 2

3) Corsair CS Series 550 Watt ATX Modular and Efficient Power Supply - $89.99

4) Intel Core i5-4590 BX80646154590 Processor (6M Cache, 3.3 GHz) - $199.99

5) Case - Sentey Gaming Computer Case - $64.99

6) Graphics - EVGA GeForce GT 740 - $93.69

7) Memory - Crucial... but I am not sure the difference between these two types. I want 16 GBs because I am a programmer and need alot of memory to make everything run smoothly

8) Wifi Card - TP-Link TL-WDN4800 Dual Band Wireless N900 PCI Express Adaptor - $37.24

My questions are....
1) Will these be compatible? I tried to take everything off the Tony Macx list so I know it works with OSX, but will it all work together?
2) What is the difference between those two types of RAM and which one would be better (I use alot of memory hogging apps in my engineering classes)
3) I am a casual gamer (Think Sims 4, Cities Skylines, and Civ 5), do I need a graphics card that expensive or would on board graphics be better?
4) Any thoughts on how to cut some costs on this build, I don't want to buy cheap parts since I want this to work, but I am also a broke college student, so saving tips are appreciated!
5) If I want to upgrade to water cooling later would this machine be compatible? I'm guessing I would just need to buy a new fan that is compatible?

Thank you all in advance!

Thank you very much :) The Gigabyte one is actually cheaper too!

I would like some more opinions, especially on the RAM and graphics card.

I agree about going with Gigabyte motherboard. I have seen others use Asus to but I can only say Gigabyte works the best.

For the ram I would look for one that has a heatsink on them to help get the heat away from the chips.

For the GPU it depends what you play to do on the build. If you are going to use programs that can benefit from CUDA or game I would go with a better GPU but that's just me.

Since you said that you do engineering classes a dedicated GPU is a must since iGPUs are the worst thing to use.

For RAM you can get a much faster 16 GB kit for less money at Newegg.

With the 10 dollar off promo code it's just 80 USD for the kit. Best deal anywhere right now.

For the gfx card I would just skip that for now and use integrated. When you have the money
saved up get a GTX 750Ti or better. The performance of the 740 isn't worth paying 80 dollars more
for in comparison to the HD 4600.

Thanks so much! Will and integrated graphics card still be capable of casual gaming like the sims? I don't do any hard core gaming like MMO's so I don't think I need a top end graphics card. But I do play alot of casual games through Steam

I've never tried that kind of gaming on igfx but maybe some others that have could chime in.
The faster 1866 MHz ram does make a difference when you use igfx (HD4600) because the
onboard gfx chip uses your system memory for vram in contrast to the way a discrete card works
with it's own memory chips installed on the card.

You can always try it out and add a discrete gfx card later on if the quality of basic gaming
isn't good enough for your needs.

No. iGPUs are not made to game on. Like I already said you need a dedicated GPU. Intel HD Graphics are complete garbage.
