I've tried the few tweaks and workarounds and none of them seem to fix this problem. I went back to my 10.8 install, ran 5.1.2 and everything is still messed up with it. I did the update in the hope of fixing my sleep issues, but it's instead opened a whole other can of worms. I find once you try and fail the install, then other installers start failing too.

This thread was sort of hijacked (mea culpa) to dealing with P55 board issues. Legacy USB and FakeSMC issues don't apply to your GA-Z68A-D3H-B3.

More info please on the problems you're dealing with:

- Can you post your /var/log/install.log?

- In a previous post you mentioned a DSDT. Are you still using BIOS? In that post you have some errors I've not seen. Have you done a Repair Permissions on your disk lately?

- You mentioned you went back to a 10.8 install. Did you mean a clean install, and further 10.8 as opposed to 10.8.2? What OSX & MB versions are you currently running?

What issues? Every one of these posts have been due to bad previously installed kexts.

From my previous post on this thread:

So, MB 5.1.x Bugs for P55 after clean install of 10.8.2+supp using UniBeast ML 1.5.3:

- Legacy USB blows up
- DSDT Audio layout_id
- FakeSMC.kext causes reboot-on-wake-from-sleep
- Permissions Cleanup Attachment 35118

Thanks for reply. I did a clean install of 10.8.2 and now everything works like a charm. Thank you for all the efforts that bring us the HackPro. :)

I just rebuilt my Z77X-UP5 TH, i7-3770k over clocked to 4.8 GHz, GTX 670 and have no issues.

I went back and rebuilt my Mac yesterday, doing a fresh install of 10.8 and upgrade to 10.8.2 and now it does work. Sorry for the confusion, my thought was that there might have been a solution that was forthcoming to fix the failed install issue without doing a full rebuild.

If you are doing clean installs, then:

- Create UniBeast USB key with "Legacy USB" Option

- Use MultiBeast 5.1.3, do not use "Legacy USB" or IOUSBRollback" options. (Makes no sense, but it works)

You only really need to select UserDSDT, the Audio With DSDT option, and Lnx2Mac in 5.1.3. Some things, like FakeSMC and AppleRTC Patch are already installed automatically when you select UserDSDT.

Thanks for input Peppy but multibeast still fails at the end. Attached the log with all details in it. Don't really understand what could be wrong there at the end...

Here's the problem...

Nov 2 16:30:24 hackets-mac-pro.mydomain.example installd[218]: kextcache: IOUSBAttachedSCSI.kext - nocompatible dependency found for com.apple.iokit.IOUSBFamily.

If you are making a clean install, this shouldn't happen. Perhaps you are installing over an existing install, not using Disk Utility in the Installer to erase the drive.

In any case, you can plug in the UniBeast USB key, and copy these kexts to your system disk, they are in System/Library/Extensions of your UniBeast drive. Look at some of the previous posts in this thread for more info. Out of town ATM...

IF your UniBeast USB key works on your booted system:

#sudo cp -R /Volumes/?Unibeast USB?/System/Library/Extensions/IOUSB* ~/Desktop

Then download and run KextBeast to take care of the the installation and permissions, reboot.

Hope that helps...
