MSI RX 560 LP - Fans at 2800+ at idle

Do this patch PEPG to GFX0 with clover configurator, because when you inject the framebufer it disables whatevergreen. Try the Acre inject again with the GFX0 patch.
Listen to the fans even if you get a black screen.

By looking at you ioreg dump you will need this patches.
HECI to IMEI - intel management engine
PEGP to GFX0- power management for GPU
SAT0- SATA - this is for your internal drives, proper speed and power.

The settings are good, but the fans are 2800...

Thx - added those..

Sort of stuck at this point it would seem.

Forcing the Acre just gets me black screen and doesn't seem to solve the fan thing.

Maybe just this specific version of the 560, yeah?

Did this do anything regarding those patches?
I'm not sure where to look/what I'm looking at.

GPU should be back to "non Acre" as I disabled that stuff.
If I have to hear the fans, I'd like to at least not see a black screen! lol

Just a random thought here ...

Remember the RadeonDeInit flag set to 'true' is an alternative to Whatevergreen to stop the black screen at boot.

If any FB patching experiments are overriding WEG then try the flag.

I no longer use WEG and haven't noticed any problems.

:)

Interesting thought. Ok. Will play some more with that.

I guess what I’m not clear on is...if not using WEG, what properties are actually required?

InjectATI?
FakeID?
PlatformID?

My head is just spinning on getting the right settings when not using WEG.

That and I’m so frustrated because this card behaves essentially perfectly, straight OOB with just Lilu and WEG, save for the fans.

Sigh

I feel your pain!

Just double-checked my own config - none of those three mods are included. No inject, no FakeID, no PlatformID. (Oddly I do InjectIntel but it's Auto in BIOS so not actually visible to the OS). Oh, an no GPU renames either, though I hesitate to suggest that is any sort of fix.

As you've said before this card's usefulness is that it needs nothing beyond either RadeonDeInit or WEG.

My suspicion here is that the problem is something really simple we're missing...

I still wonder if it’s not something in the bios maybe..

Probably some obscure boot flag or something.

Hell- I don’t know. I’m lost on this. Such a weird odd and frustrating stumbling block to an otherwise awesome native card experience.

I think I need to get a hold of a 570 or 580 and try it on this exact Mojave Lilu WEG setup and see.

I’m particularly bummed about this LP 560 though because I’d hoped to build a super small hack around it in a build that can only take low profile cards and this 560 is known to be one of the best LP’s out there.

It’s a perfect Hack card for a small build - save for these fans. Sigh.
