About advantage with iMac Pro Smbios :
It was just at the beginning for the fun when i installed my X299 build but after two month all his working fine also with Office 2016 for my job or home computing , so for me is quite good.
But the update to 10.13.4 was not easy , I only be able to manage the update with terminal command.

14,2 requires less hacking. But i wouldn't bother changing it after the initial setup.

I didnt have any issues at this moment using 17,1, did you? otherwise i may go back to 14,2 or MacPro 5,1

The 17,1 board ID has the issue in AppleGraphicsDeviceControl.kext that 14,2 doesn't but its easily fixed. Apart from that I'd imagine any supported desktop ID will do the job just as well. 14,2 is the same generation chipset and the SMBIOS details are built-in to Clover so i just used that and stuck with it.

Hi, @vulgo I have a similar setup to yours (minus a GPU) and was wondering if you've tried updating your system. Something happened to my machine during my recent move and it's not working at all now and instead of trying to troubleshoot and fix this buggy install, I thought that I might try updating to High Sierra or even Mojave. Thought I should see if anyone else has done this successfully before I tried.

(this is my HTPC build, which is why it doesnt match my profile specs)

No I am using Clover to install Mojave.
I am using EFI from someone having same specs as mine but different mobo.

Recommend you use UniBeast for Mojave.

Someone else's EFI for a different motherboard will probably cause problems. Clover does not install Mojave.
