HELLO FORUM:D

I am going to try and turn my old computer that i build 3yrs ago into a hakintosh or a dualboot machine if i get that working. I have been wanting to try this for a long time but everybody with similar gear seem to have a lot of trouble so i've just postponed it BUT now i've got time and i've done some reaserch and i think it might work.

i'd like some advice and opinions on this, is it worth the trouble i might have to go through? should i invest in new parts? a lot of the post i've read was over 4 yrs old so things might have changed.

My parts

CPU Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2500K CPU @ 3.30GHz

MOTHERBOARD MSI p67a gd55 LGA 1155
http://www.msi.com/product/mb/P67AGD55_B3.html#hero-specification

GPU (i might not include this at first) Gigabyte Geforce GTX 460

RAM Corsair vengence 2x4gb

Powersup Fractal design 650W

You could use everything you've got except the motherboard and have an easy to setup
system that would perform well with Mavericks. Amazon still has this compatible Gigabyte
board for about 105 bucks new. http://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-1155-Intel-Motherboard-GA-Z77-HD3/dp/B00APZXYGM/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1409011188&sr=8-5&keywords=ga-z77x

Most of the Z77X prices are astronomical right now for a
new unused board so I would avoid those. The 3570K is still
a good cpu that can be overclocked with a good cooler. A
small investment for a working CustoMac that can run
Mavs and likely Yosemite later on.

Will it just be really hard to use my motherboard or is it straight up impossible?
Here is one guy that did it http://www.tonymacx86.com/mountain-...success-msi-g77a-g43-mountain-lion-build.html :)

My Lan and audio is also Realtech same as his if thhat helps :)
Audio

• Chipset integrated by Realtek® ALC892
- Flexible 8-channel audio with jack sensing
- Compliant with Azalia 1.0 Spec
- Meet Microsoft Vista Premium spec
LAN

• Supports one PCI Express LAN 10/100/1000 Fast Ethernet by Realtek 8111E.

You can certainly give it a try first if you've got a lot of time and patience. It's
not impossible but for a beginner it will take many hours of research + trial
and error to get it working well. It's up to you if you want to go that route.

If you just want something easy and simple to configure go with the Gigabyte
board from Amazon. BTW the Z77-A you are referring to (he mislabeled it G77A)
is completely different than your P67 motherboard. Z77 is Ivy Bridge and P67 is
Sandy Bridge. Best to use your 3570K with an Ivy Bridge board.

OK thanks for the advice, i'll give it a try this weedend and post the results here:)

not sure if this changes anything but i just double checked my parts and i've got an Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2500K CPU @ 3.30GHz processor and im not sure if i'ts ivy bridge or sandy or whatever if could be :)

Sandy Bridge board + Sandy Bridge CPU.

Can quite easily install, but you need a patched BIOS to run Mavericks or a patched kernel or use Clover as your boot loader.
Patched BIOS is available at http://biosrepo.wordpress.com/msi/ or you can patch your own - see http://biosrepo.wordpress.com/2013/01/19/simple-way-to-patch-your-own-bios/
