Hi

I’m looking to upgrade from the on board Intel HD4000 graphics to a stand along graphics card (currently looking at the GeForce GT640). Will using a standalone graphics card be beneficial?

As the GeForce GT640 is compatible with OX, should it work out of the box without the need for any Kexts?

I’m currently using two displays. Running OSX Sierra.

Any advice will be appreciated .

thanks

You just need to change the UEFI (BIOS) settings to boot from the PCIx16 slot that the card is located in and plug in your monitor to the digital connections on the GPU (HDMI and DVI)

I've just had to refer back to this. IGFX seems to work best.
