Hi all,

I plan to change my GTX 1060 6GB to RX580 8GB and I have 2 questions:
- I remember that both cards offer almost the same performance. Can you confirm?
- I am currently running High Sierra. If I change the card will it be recognized OTB by the system or shall I have to go again to lengthy configuration process?

I later on plan to move to Mojave, as there will be no driver problem.

Thanks in advance for your help,

Cheers,
Mac

(1) Yes, the 1060 and 580 are close in performance (under Windows). But remember that the 580 is natively supported under MacOS High Sierra and Mojave, and so I believe it is very likely the 580 will perform better in MacOS. Also the 1060 has no driver support under Mojave at this point.
(2) The 580 is natively supported so it should be recognized OOB.

Hi Dom,
I'm in the same situation and was wondering what steps you did when changing the GPU over.

- Update/install lilu and whatevergreen with the latest release
- Remove NvidiaGraphicsFixup if you used it
- Uninstall your nvidia web drivers
- Remove the webdriver argument in your config.plist
- Uninstall CUDA if installed

Swap the cards and it should be good.

Amazing, thanks for getting back to me.
