Motherboard confusion

i want to build my hackintosh specifically for final cut, logic, photoshop and general school work. I have a mid to high price range I know nothing about hardware and am dying to learn. I was recommended to get the MSI Z97 PC Mate and from what i can tell it seems perfect. I am just genuinely interested what does this do better/ worse than other ones, cheaper, more expensive and in the same price range as this mobo? I literally know nothing. Thank you!
