My laptop has a slightly similar problem. After upgrading from Big Sur to Monterey.
The display turns off and goes to sleep. But after that it won't turn back on. The buttons are responsive, there is sound, no matter how the laptop freezes, but the screen is simply not detected.
Tried to update kexts and OS 0.7.8. Does not help.

@hayo-tee your issue is completely unrelated and Off Topic to this thread. Post a request for help in the Laptop Monterey section.

If you have an underlying issue with your system, simply updating to new kext and OC versions will hardly ever fix the problem, especially with an older system. As most fixes applied to updated kexts relate to issues on new systems.

You need to find out what is preventing the screen from initialising/waking after sleep. Use the search feature in the Laptop section, I am sure you are not the first to have this issue.
