Monitor Selection HP 2210M or Asus ML238H

Hey guys I need a little more advice on my monitor purchase.

I've narrowed my search down between these two monitors:

Asus ML238H

I've physically looked at the HP and it's the closest thing to the Apple Cinema Display that I've found in terms of looks, which I think is due to the glossy finish (which I like).

Ideally I'd like to get a dual monitor setup with smaller monitors and a vesa mount but it seems like these sizes have the best reputation online. I'm worried about both of them because of their warranty periods, dead pixel policies and customer service issues.

Does anyone have either of these? What has your experience been with either company and where is the best place to purchase monitors?

Also can you purchase third party warranties?

I see your first choice was a 23 in LED LCD from ASUS. If you are looking for a good LED LCD with vesa mounting (many LED's do not have this) I would try the viewsonic 24 in LED monitor that is on sale right now on Amazon. Thanks for the advice. I'm stopping at frys today to look at the asus in person maybe they'll have the viewsonic as well.

I wouldn't go either one of those monitors. Because there both TN (twisted nematic) which gives you inaccurate washed-out colors. Even being LED backlit, there still twisted nematic.

For the best color I would go with an IPS monitor (In-plane switching). Dell currently sells the IPS monitors for the best price. You can get a 21" 1080P IPS monitor from Dell for only $239.

All of Apple monitors are IPS. You will notice a huge difference in the colors on an IPS monitor vs. a TN monitor.

Mac Life Magazine did a review of sub $300 monitors. The HP ZR22W was their top-rated monitor because it was the only one that was an IPS monitor in their test. Here is a link to the article and some other IPS monitors.

There is a larger 24" IPS monitor, the HP ZR24W that has been given high marks on many review sites. It's more expensive but the screen resolution is 1920 x 1200.
