Hi folks,

I currently have a fully perfectly working Mojave + Windows 10 setup:

My setup:
  • Gigabyte GA-Z87MX-D3H motherboard
  • Intel Core i7 4770 CPU
  • Mac OS Mojave 10.14.2 on a 1TB SSD
  • Windows 10 on a separated 500GB SSD
  • Clover on Mac SSD EFI, with dual boot
I would like to upgrade my Mojave installation to an NVMe using a PCI-E adaptor, but my motherboard doesn't support booting up from it.

Would I need to install Clover on the Windows SSD EFI with the NvmeExpressDxe-64 driver and boot Mac OS from there? How do I install Clover on windows drive?

I need a bit clarification on this before I buy the NVMe drive.

Thanks!

Double check with GA site for a BIOS/UEFI upgrade to handle booting from PCIe slot mounted drives. You may not be able to do so at all, in which case you either need a new system or make do with what you have.
From experience, performance boost is really not all that great.

I did contact Gigabyte support asking about it, they said it doesn't support booting from PCI-E, but I keep finding articles online saying it's possible to do with Clover.

I've also found articles about how the performance increase is not as huge as switching from a standard HDD to SSD so I may stay with my current setup for now.
