Thanks @phunguss
Well I dud use super duper (free version)

The cloned does not appear in the clover boot menu... I did first format it as APFS and changed the boot order in Bios...is it just a question of disconnecting the old SSD? If I try to edit the plist with clover, it changes the plist in both EFI???

It will only change the plist on the EFI partition that you mount (NOT both). So if your new M.2 has the same name as your old SSD, then just change the name on your old SSD and the config should default to your new M.2 then. If they have different names, you will have to change the plist to reflect the new name of your M.2 drive (if that is your chosen boot volume in BIOS).

Did as you suggested, renamed new M2 with the old SSD name, renamed SSD VEDO, went in the plist to make sure default boot volume was the right name, it did not work. Event went in system preferences and changed the boot disk there to, it still stubbornly sticks to the old drive.

then I went one step further, I unplugged the old SSD drive. I got to the clover menu boot screen but with no boot menu options...

In your config.plist when viewed with CloverConfigurator, are there any hidden volumes (GUI tab)? What options do you have checked? Was your old original drive APFS or HFS+? You copied the entire EFI folder from your old to new drive?

Looks like you have 6 physical drives in this computer? You have the correct one selected in BIOS/UEFI?

1- Preboot and VM
2- here is my efi
3- APFS (fresh Mojave install donne about a month ago)
4- YES copied the entire folder
5- YES : want screen shots of my bios? i'l gladly do so

tested the renaming again - called the old one booo just for fun

Any reason you have not updated to 4.20 BIOS? I would say to disconnect your 'boooo' volume and see if you still get a Clover boot screen or not.

I just upgraded from 3.10 to 3.4...I stayed away from 4.20 because you can't revert back....at least that what they say. I did siconeect it and as I mentioned and sent tou pics the n I do I get a clover boot screen with no drives....but I"ll upgrade bios to 4.20 and try the disconnect again...

Alleluya finally...I didn't have to disconnect the disk nor to update bios. Thanks for your help, your hidden partition hint got me thinking...what if

1st - Mounted the EFI of the M2 only, I opened the p-list, noticed it was back on last booted volume...don't know why, entered the volume name again, then I removed hidden entries Preboot and VM and for good measure pressed the minus buttons a couple of time eve after these 2 entries were deleted and saved.
2nd - unmounted the M2 efi
3rd - mounted booo SSD EFI and opened plist. it too was on last booted volume...Renamed the boot volume to booo, deleted hidden entries Preboot and VM and, saved and unmounted
4th - disconnected all my external drives
5th - I reinstalled clover on the new M2
6th rebooted and voila!

might still upgrade the bios...do you have the same bord or any experience with 4.20?
