<< Solved >> Mojave 10.14.4 B360m pro4 + 9700K + RX480 - cannot load installer

  • Although some users have posted that they have successfully used Radeon RX 480 in macOSMojave , I have not seen a well documented post; just opinions and claims of success.
I am not very enthusiastic about Mojave in general, but my MSI RX480/8G works OK AFAIK(with Whatevergreen.kext)
Just no 10-bit HEVC playback accelaration, same as in 10.13.

Can you give me a Ioreg dump ? Did you enable hw h264/ hev for your rx 480?

Thank you very much for your pithy comment about MSI RX480 in Mojave and your own experience using it. It should be helpful to the OP as well.

Thanks, i will try
Replace the usb folder with this one.

Thanks, i did that but still issue persist.. even with recomendation to disable VT-d from the BIOS

  • There are problems both in your BIOS choice(one example: VT-d is Enabled) and in CLOVER (Both in critical folders contents and in config.plist SECTIONS) .
    • Unless both are fixed, you won't be able to install macOSMojave on the listed hardware
  • I would also like you to clarify how exactly you have connected your Display monitor to the Graphics card as you have two Graphics: IntelHD 630 and a Radeon Rx 480.
    • Please include the exact type of Cable used to connect the Display Monitor to Graphics.
  • You have not listed the Make (Brand name) of Radeon Rx 480.
    • Brand Names are important as some Makes like XFX have been reported to have had problems with several Radeon RX cards.
    • Although some users have posted that they have successfully used Radeon RX 480 in macOSMojave , I have not seen a well documented post; just opinions and claims of success.
  • I will wait to make a detailed post with the edited screen shots of your uploads, after you had a chance to post the details I need about your Graphics and Monitor and possibly after you also had a chance to try the EFI folder offered to you.

BIOS: disable - VT-d also from the boot there is

IntelHD 630 (without any connection to display ) and Radeon Rx 480
- i am using now only RX480 with DISPLAY port 1, next to HDMI

Radeon Rx 480 - model is PowerColor RED DEVIL 8G

Yes o try to replace EFI folder with new one from the above suggestion

@mattystonnie - thanks for your help!!!! maybe i need to do someting else...

Current screen:
I have reviewed all your BIOS and CLOVER screen shots and edited with some annotations. Since I don't have the EXACT hardware, I can only suggest a trial fix.
Besides VT-d being ENBLED, I have seen some other issues also with BIOS and plenty in CLOVER.
You need to take a good look and see to make changes.
This can take a while as you need to do a few changes at a time and then test that with Verbose boot and upload problem screen shots for further corrections.
Unless someone with exact Hardware can give a fully functioning BIOS options and EFI, it can be a painfully long troubleshoot.

Ok, made new modifications, and now should boot into installer, I included a new patch for ACPI since you have a new cpu and a older motherboard, probably you update to the last bios for the cpu to work, it's a common problem.

Replace the folder with this one.

Did you update the bios ?

Based on what i see in the website of Asrock - current version is 4.0 which is my BIOS version as well...:(

i dont like this messgae :
Update Intel Microcode
*User will not able to flash to previous BIOS once upgrading to this BIOS version.
**We don't recommend users to update the BIOS if their system is already running normally.
