ML: Native Ivy Bridge CPU and GPU Power Management

Hi all,

hope it won't be seen as a double post but my initial post is not very visible in the post-intallation topics flow...

I'm running into issues with my GA-X79-UP4 and a 4930K... I've been trying hard to make it work and get some knowledge about all this is working but something must eludes me...

all logs are here:
http://www.tonymacx86.com/general-help/136175-ga-x79-up4-i7-4930k.html

If someone could please have a look ? ! I'm desperate

1. CPU: imac13 is Ivy Bridge (XPCM), imac12 is Sandy bridge (AICPUPM). The plist is different, verify.
2. GPU: without AGPM plist edit for graphics card device_id, default GPU PM is working, not Kepler GPU PM. 10.9.3 AGPM fixed the downclock problem.

Sysdef had nothing to do with your results; your experiments are not valid.

To summarize, you have neither native CPU PM nor GPU PM. See post #1.

Hi Toleda! Can you please explain or link me on what is "default GPU PM"? "Kepler GPU PM" I presume is PM from agpm.kext, right?
My problem is my Quadro k4000m 4GB (I'm quite sure is the same card as gtx 675mx 4GB) gpu and ram freqs remain at max (600MHz, 2800MHz) for 99% of time, so temps are high! Only briefly they go to min values... Could be this "default GPU PM"?
Anyway, in Windows I have 4 states:
GPU RAM
MHz MHz
135 648
202 648
405 1600
600 2800
In mac I'm using iMac13.2 smbios, duplicate in agpm.kext->info.plist the gtx 675mx 4GB entry and rename it to my ven and dev id, from Vendor10deDevice11a2 to Vendor10deDevice11bd, but I'm not sure if values inside must be the same... For last 3-4 months I'm searching info about structure of kepler PM in agpm.kext (Fermi seems to be a lot easier), found nothing except Euristic id=4...
Have you more info about kepler entries in info.plist?
Or maybe my attachment can help answer...
Thanks!

I'm not sure if I can use MacPro4,1 or 5,1 smbios, this macpros use Nehalem and Westmere cpu...maybe MacPro6,1 that use Ivy Bridge xeon cpu...
My hardware is more like iMac13.2, CPU PM is ok, my quadro is like gtz 675mx from iMac13.2, so I prefer remain with iMac13.2 smbios... :)
What cpu do you have? I see your motherboar support Sandy Bridge and Ivy Bridge cpus.

If I have a GTX 760 installed, do I need SSDT?

This is all too advanced for me at the moment.
IS there no easier way like solely per multibeast for my cpu i5-3450?

Or maybe already generated SSDTs somewhere or are they not solely CPU specific?

I think my graphic card is ok? And natively supported, right? A geforce 660 oc.

...

Using SMBIOS sys def. MacMini 12.2, should I not be using nullpower?

system as per profile

Regards

Using NullCPUPowerManagement is not "Native...CPU...Power Management"

Using NullCPUPowerManagement is not "Native...CPU...Power Management"

And yet The tonymacx86 clover guide directs using it.

Referring to Toleda's opening post 2.a - I can't use the multibeast settings for SandyBridge processors because I have used Clover?

This is perplexing

Regards
