I have a running hackintosh with a Gigabyte Z77X-UP5-TH board as the foundation. Things are fine right now but I need a fast (very fast) media reader to transfer pictures from my camera compact flash cards.

The cards are UDMA7 Lexar 1000x 64gb so I would prefer a Media Reader that is connected to the board using USB3. So there is these models...

Does anyone has experience with such a media reader? Do they work on hackintosh?

Thx for the input.

I wrote about this last week.

I highly recommend the Lexar dual-slot UDMA reader. I use this with my OS X machines, and I've measured it reading off my Lexar 1000x 32 GB card at 120 MB/s. It's not an internal drive-bay unit, but I still recommend it. Read the post I link to above for more details.

Also in this post I mentioned a reason to stay away from readers such as some of the drive-bay ones with shallow CF slots. Quite apart from unknown speeds, you may be putting the health of your cards and camera at risk.

Thank you for the great information. I'll order a Lexar reader today. You've been great help :)
P.S. Nop, I don't want to put my cards at risk hehe.
