Media Buttons unresponsive for Itunes

Hello all,

I've been having a problem for the past few months and I'm hoping someone might know the answer here. Can't seem to find anything on this issue throughout the interwebs.

My apple keyboard media buttons (play, back, forward) do not work with itunes. They work with other applications such as video players, but not for itunes.

Of course, I have no idea what caused it. Any help would be extremely appreciated! Thank you!!

Is this for a genuine Apple keyboard? wireless or corded?
