This might sound like a stupid question. But is it possible to run Mavericks on my laptop? I don't care about getting CPU PM and QE/CI to work. I just want to test some things.

TIA

I ran into a problem. I can't find the installer app anywhere. Any thoughts?
I found the installer and created a USB, but I get this error. I changed the SMBIOS to MBP 11,1 and that didn't help.

But which one should I use? If I use the one for HD 5500, the SMBIOS will be MBP 12,1. So I need something different than that.

You can easily change the SMBIOS ProductName if needed.
Use a plist editor such as Xcode or PlistEdit Pro.

I just realised the version of the installer is 10.9.1. So that's why MBP 11,1 didn't work. I changed it to 10,1 and now I get stuck here. I also tried 11,1 with the -no_compat_check flag and I got stuck on the same screen.

AptioMemoryFix*.efi not likely to work on older OS X.
Use OsxAptioFixDrv-64.efi instead.
