I have no audio, probably because of "Unsupported/Non working Realtek ALC AppleHDA."

What does this mean:

MSI motherboards, pre Sandy Bridge

  1. Workaround: 6/7/8 Series upgrade <-- specifically, this. get a new board?

OS 10.9 / MSI X58 Pro-E / don't know bios at moment / Core i7 940 / nvidia GeForce GTX 275
MultiBeast 6.0 No DsDt / Tonymacx86 Mavericks Install guide / AppleHDA1.kext: 10ec0889 - ALC889

Installed ALC889 w/o kext with Multibeast
No DSDT

This is an upgrade to Mavericks from Lion, and I have a bit of a strange problem. Speakers connected to the back panel, labeled "Line Out" in settings, seem to work fine. However, I can't get sound to come out of my headphones connected to the front panel. There are two other entries in sound settings, labeled "Internal Speakers," but they don't affect the speakers or the headphones. Any ideas? Is there something else that I need to install or re-install that I missed?

MultiBeast audio is not installed. Use MultiBeast 6.0 or newer - Select: Drivers > Audio > Realtek ALC8xx > Without DSDT √ ALC889.

Read Post #1, II. No Sound; clarifies "Internal Speakers", "Headphones" and the other audio devices.

HelloMr. Toleda
Why mute button doesn't work on apple keyboard?
I installed audio with multibeast, everything works fine except mute .
Will there be a fix for this?

MultiBeast audio is not installed. Use MultiBeast 6.0 or newer - Select: Drivers > Audio > Realtek ALC8xx > Without DSDT √ ALC889.
That is exactly what I did.

No Sound -> Audio Outputs (System Preferences/Sound/Outputs > SPSOut) -> Speakers - Audio IDs: 1, 2 and 3 -> Select SPSOut/"Internal Speakers"
There are two "Internal Speakers" and neither work. "Line out" does.
No Sound -> Audio Outputs (System Preferences/Sound/Outputs > SPSOut) -> Remaining audio output devices -> Audio ID: 1 -> SPSOut/Headphones > Green Port/Front Panel
There is no "Headphones" device.

I've done this many times. Just tried it again. Installed via Multibeast 6.0, repaired permissions, and restarted. No dice.

There is no "Headphones" device.
Never heard/saw two "Internal Speakers", post a screen shot. That is the problem. What you said you did does not produce the result you have. Check if S/L/E HDAEnabler2.kext is present; if yes, remove it. If not, suggest a clean install.

Headphones will not show in System Preferences unless the front panel is connected properly and the headphones are plugged in.
