Marvell 88SE9230 RAID Support

My Dell motherboard only has 3Gbps SATA ports, so I decided to buy one of these PCIe RAID cards which claimed MacOS compatibility.

Using the BIOS support I configured a RAID 0 comprising two 480G Kingston SSDs.

This works with High Sierra and gives me ~700Mbytes/sec reads which is great, but MacOS is presenting it as a rotating rust drive rather than SSD.

Also the card is not recognised as a RAID controller.

How can I control the RAID card from MacOS and see it's correct status?

Thanks for this write-up. I've been looking for a compatible eSATA card since I couldn't get the RocketRAID 644L I bought, which was supposed to be compatible, to work.
I just ordered a card that uses the same chipset as yours.

To answer your question: You can't do that from within macOS. You have to use the BIOS settings.
I'm not going to use the BIOS settings for configuration but keep using macOS's SoftRAID. That way I can just use a different controller if it should die at some point – or if it should no longer be supported, like my old RocketRAID 2314 card. :-/

Thank you for your reply! I’m gonna purchase it rightaway! I was looking everywhere for a compatible sata controller which was not more expensive then buying a new motherboard with 8 sata connectors
