I remember when a single 2N2222A transistor cost $22.50 in lots of 10. The M1 Max chip contains 57 billion transistors, and I can't even see them. How can you even test 57 billion transistors on a chip?

Recent sneak peeks from Apple haven’t gone well:

• Universal Control in Monterey — delayed to 12.3
• Wireless charging pad — canceled

So I’m puzzled why they would headline an entire keynote with the word “peek”?

Peek more likely implies something other than a glimpse at a future product. It might refer to a new display, but a 7K model priced at the very high end is just not suited to an event that targets general audiences.

The infinity mirror in the event invitation does appear symbolic of something we look into. So if it does refer to rumored Apple Glasses, it would be very unusual to headline the entire show around a future (not ready for prime time) product.

March events are typically for consumer level products. So even a Mac Studio with M1 Pro and M1 Max would not dominate a March event.

Two things are for sure, the new 5G iPhone SE and the iPad Air with A15 Bionic chips.
The third thing that is most likely, the new M2 Mac mini refresh in multi colored choices.
Starting at $699 it's certainly Consumer level. After that it's anyone's guess. It's hard to
believe they'll refresh the old MBP 13" form factor with an M2 but that is also possible.

The One More Thing
I mentioned Apple Glasses as a possibility because it's a totally unique AR product that no one else is selling right now. Google Glass failed and you don't hear anything about those anymore. There would be no Osborne effect if they announce them next Tuesday because Apple customers will still buy the other offerings no matter how good the Apple glasses might look. Leakers haven't got anything on this probably because very few at Apple even know anything that they could leak.

The other possibility is that Apple Glasses are ready. Maybe Tim Cook has already been wearing them at the previous virtual events since 2020, the year they were supposed to make it to market. Like most other things, they got delayed due to the worldwide pandemic. One other option could be the Apple VR headset. That would compete with Oculus Rift which is a $299 consumer level product.

Possibly a picture of Tim adjusting his Apple Glasses ? Turning up the brightness ?

The gods in my belly are telling me that, 'thou shalt release Apple cube' upon the world!. The J375 hinted at by Mr and 925M, a new pro-sumer Mac that will probably look much better than the render they provided. I also agree with trs96 about the reveal of AR classes, sneak peek means AR glasses to me!. I'm very excited about this event!.

With the retro early 2000's look of all the latest Mac refreshes, they could bring back a new updated cube. Maybe that will be the form factor of the fabled Mac mini Pro everyone is now talking about. With Apple silicon inside it would be easy to keep it from overheating. That was one of the big problems the G4 cube had not addressed.

Just checking the date of when Apple released the 20th Anniversary Mac, 1 April 1996. Twenty years from the date Apple was formed by Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak and Ronald Wayne.

Man was that thing expensive when released. When you figure in inflation, it cost way more than a new 2019 Mac Pro. About $12,100 in 2020 dollars.

Upon its unveiling, the TAM was predicted to cost US $9,000, which would include a direct-to-door concierge delivery service. At release the price was reduced to $7,499. In the middle of the machine's sales lifespan Apple dropped the price further to around US$3,500, and finally upon discontinuation in March 1998 the price was set to US$1,995.

Customers who paid full price for the TAM, and then complained to Apple when the price was so drastically cut, were offered a free high-end PowerBook as compensation.

Dealers in the US ran out of stock within 14 days of the final price drop.
