I love my rat 5. It's the side scroller that no other mouse has that I find difficult to live without. It makes scrolling in Logic so easy. Finally a new rat but no mac drivers yet, although one could use something like USB Overdrive. That's how I'm keeping my rat alive.

My RAT 7 died an ignominious death a couple of years ago. I thought a high precision gaming mouse would make a big difference to my gaming experience, but it didn't. The customizations available on Windows were nice in theory, but I seldom bothered to go through the process of setting up button macros. I can see how all the buttons would be useful in something like Logic or Final Cut.

My favorite mouse to date is the lowly Logitech Bluetooth M535. Only two buttons and a scroll wheel, but the tracking action is incredibly smooth. I don't think it uses a high precision sensor, so I'm not sure how it achieves the buttery smooth tracking.
