The macOS Sierra 10.12 Public Beta is now available. Apple wants as many users as possible to test macOS Sierra to provide constructive feedback before the official release later this fall. To participate in the free Public Beta, you must enroll in the Apple Beta Software Program using your Apple ID.

Enroll in the Free Apple Beta Software Program
https://beta.apple.com/sp/betaprogram/welcome

This site will allow discussion of this software and its installation for those who have enrolled. Therefore we’ve added new subforums for the beta where users can post for support: Sierra Desktop Support, Sierra Desktop Guides, Sierra Laptop Support, and Sierra Laptop Guides.

We also threw together a preliminary guide to create an installer USB. Let us know how it goes!

Got 10.12 running on my Sandy Hack. Did have it on my Z77-DS3H but had a power cut so had to re-do everything. Ill most likely install later on :).

I don't plan on trying this until at least the GM but I'm wondering about those of us using Mac Pro 3,1 profiles. I still have an older motherboard so I'm wondering if I'll even be able to switch (if I need to) without complications.

You will need to change System Definition. I recommend a matching iMac system definition only because of Powermanagement.

A few things about macOS Sierra Public Beta:

1. Siri works: requires Audio and Ethernet to be enabled. Realtek audio has a slightly different kext patch than 10.11- more to come. EDIT: http://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/sierra-desktop-realtek-applehda-audio.197923/

2. Public Beta build is 16A238m (DP1 is 16A210v, DP2 is 16A239j)

3. New AMD Radeon HD support - see here for details:
http://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/macos-sierra-pb-need-testers-for-new-amd-radeon-drivers.197273/

4. New NVIDIA graphics drivers support is more or less the same as El Capitan. Alternate graphics drivers for macOS Sierra beta are available- see here for details:
http://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/nvidia-releases-alternate-graphics-drivers-for-macos-sierra-10-12-beta.195315/

5. Mac Pro (2008) MacPro3,1 system definition, not supported in macOS Sierra. We recommend using iMac14,2 as a replacement.

Hi Mr. T - I noticed in your post you said the Public Beta Build is 16A23k but my Build is saying (16A238m), is that a typo or am I missing something?

I've just finished installing Sierra on a Sandisk Extreme Flash Drive (see attached file) and had a few hiccups along the way.

I had to use Clover r3590 along with a newer version of CLOVERX64.efi (not sure if this is needed along with the newer Clover version). With the new Clover version I was able to reach the installer screen.

I also had to remove USBInjectAll.kext from my Kexts -> Other folder, before the installer would load. So I only had FakeSMC.kext (Kozlek branch) and IntelMausiEthernet.kext in my Kexts folder. I also removed all SSDTs from ACPI -> patched. Things went smoothly from this point on-wards, though I only had keyboard control during the installation.

Once in Sierra, I wasn't able to install the latest Nvidia Graphics Beta drivers - I got a message saying they weren't compatible with my OS version.

However, I wasn't able to install the latest Nvidia Graphics Beta drivers, once in Sierra - I got a message saying they weren't compatible with my OS version. Will check back later for updated ones. Anyway, after a couple of hours of faffing about (which I expected), I now have a USB Drive containing Sierra :)
So we need to wait for new drivers

Has anybody discovered if MacOS Sierra supports Thunderbolt 3?
