Updated today from the App Store; downloaded to and installed on Samsung 850 EVO 256 GB SSD. File system is now APFS. Installation took 41 minutes, same as estimated by the installer.
Followed instructions here : https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/update-directly-to-macos-high-sierra.232707/
Latest Nvidia Web Driver works fine. "Heaven" and "Valley" OpenGL benchmarks have not changed since 10.12.6/HFS+ installation (see latest performance below).
No audio initially, but ran Toleda's "audio_cloverALC-130_v0.3.command" with SIP disabled and the SSD EFI partition mounted; now audio is back.

For some reason my "Sierra 0" SSD is now identified in System Report as "disk2," where on 10.12.6 it was always "disk1." But "EFI Mounter v3" stills sees it as "disk1."View attachment 281210View attachment 281211

What kind of Heaven benchmarks do you get when running at 2560x1440?

I installed on my H170 WiFi gtx 1050 ti and initially it didn’t work properly. I added the kexts and the apfs file to the EFI partition and then it installed. I installed the NVIDIA drivers unaware of the SIP issue, and now it doesn’t boot at all and I’m unsure how to proceed. Thinking it may be easier to just wipe the entire boot drive (all partitions) and clean install back to Sierra and try again. Now I have more understanding of the process so maybe I’ll end up with a better install anyway...

What is "the SIP issue"?

Ha ha, I have one monitor whose native (and maximum) resolution is 1920 x 1080. Have no idea how much slower a much higher resolution would benchmark. How about yourself?

Ignored my own advice and went ahead with my High Sierra install today. An APFS compatible beta of MacDrive was announced today along with a new version of VMware Fusion, so I took that as a sign that it was the right time to upgrade.

Everything went smoothly. I recommend testing out the macOS betas on a spare USB Stick (I use a Sandisk Extreme), so when you come to roll it out on your main hard-drive/SSD you’ve overcome most of the installation problems. So, thanks to the USB Stick, my install went fine. It said 41 minutes to complete, but finished in about 20 minutes (including APFS conversion) on my SSD.

Things I learned - I needed NVWebDriverLibValFix.kext for Nvidia web drivers to work. My out-of-date DSDT.aml caused my boot times to run to 5-6 minutes on my test USB stick. Removing it, meant better boot times of 30 seconds. Also removed all TRIM patches from my config.plist for the same reason. Next step is to backup my new system with CCC

All working now. Converted SSDs to APFS. Just neede the NVIDIA webdriver and to patch audio and the USB limit.
Astonishing smooth (but needed much time becaus of drive conversion).

Has anyone experienced any issues with their network? I left for awhile and came back to the machine not being able to connect to the internet. I just dropped the wifi connect and reconnected. It worked perfectly. I also got the NVIDIA drivers to install with SIP disabled. It errored out and I just told it to continue. Is it possible that I need to reinstall?

Nonetwork issues here. WIFI or cable. How long did it go unused before the network stopped?
I would probably say 2 hours. I am wondering if it has something to do with it switching between 2.4 and 5ghz.

Question about drives - I have three - boot drive is EVO 250GB, I have an NVME that I use for recent photo editing (500GB) and a 1TB HDD. If I upgrade, what happens to the file system on each drive:AFS on the EVO and NVME, HDD unchanged or some other combination ?
Thanks!
