macOS High Sierra 10.13 Supplemental Update

Status
Not open for further replies.
Update went smooth.

Window server won't boot with the current version of the Nvidia web drivers installed... So I booted into single user mode, just patched Info.plist in NVDAStartupWeb.kext with the version num of the supplemental upgrade, redid permissions in /L/E, rebuilt my kextcache, and boom. Flawless.

Smooth update, to supplement update.
Everything is working, including sound.

I decided to change my gtx580, to r9 270x(thnx god a had a spare one).
And now, I have zero problems.
Works obb.

I tried to fix the issue I had with gtx 580, 4 days... and no luck.
So eventually I gave up.

duet, the software to expand the desktop to an iOS device caused some havoc with this update and nvidia web drivers. I applied the required OS version patch already mentioned but the drivers would not load on reboot. I tried about everything I could think of, even patched the nvidia installer to allow me to reinstall. Nothing worked. Then I noticed duet needed to finish it's install which i thought was odd since it was already installed, but I allowed it do it's thing and reboot. Now everything works!

Hi, I already did it once the patched of the nvidia installer, and both the unpack, as the buid was done with commands in the terminal. However I forgot the commands and I do not remember. Do you know what they are, or some app that will allow me to open and edit and re-build the Nvidia package installer? Thank you.

DO NOT INSTALL if you use nvidia web drivers. nvidia web drivers incompatible. You will go into a kernel panic loop from nvidia drivers i they are present after installing this update. Even if you disable them in options. Thank god I had a full cloned backup, so I can now uninstall them completely to make make volume bootable again.

The panic looks like this FYI

*** Panic Report ***

thanks for the warning! Just in time, was about to do the same.

Attempted the supplemental update from the App Store yesterday and got the "You cannot install Mac OS on this computer" error. Fortunately I had a 10.13.0 system on my second SSD, so I just cloned it back onto my primary SSD.

Does anyone know if replacing the 10.13.0 "apfs.afi" driver in the Clover "drivers" folder with the new one dated Sept. 28, 2017 will cause a problem if I have not installed the supplemental update?

Edit: just answered my own question... newer apfs.efi has no effect on booting, graphics, or sound using 10.13 without the supplemental update.

I used PackageMaker. You can get PackageMaker by following the instructions on this thread. I opened the nvidia package and removed the requirements script all together...a little easier than following all the steps in the mentioned thread. At the end it will say something about OS not supported, but that it installed. After install and before the reboot, edit the required OS - follow these instructions or download the tool.

Yes, with me the same. The new apfs.efi works fine with the 10.13

has anyone had an issue with the new high sierra update
i went to install an now i’m haven loop reboot what would be the cause an how can i fix this

I was able to get mine working again by inserting the new apfs.efi. It did not install the supplemental. It just updated iTunes.
Running Timemachine backup now and downloading supplemental from post .
I will wait for latest Nvidia drivers before update.
