macOS High Sierra 10.13 Supplemental Update

Status
Not open for further replies.
Update from App Store, no issues or problems to report.

Same here, a much better experience than I had in getting High Sierra itself to install on my PowerMac G5. The only precaution I took (other than cloning my drive first) was to download the latest APFS.EFI and place it in the proper folder on my boot drive before I updated.

oh wow! I thought the update went through because it said there was an updating wanting a reboot but it must have been a different update, weird. the supplemental update is waiting for me to load it, guess ill hold off for now!

Anyone with Nvidia Web drivers already had success updating ?

apfs.efi is changed from 748.1.46 to 748.1.47. Here is the new file.

Thanks medianjoe. No issues.

I highly recommend uninstalling the Nvidia web drivers prior to updating to this Supplemental Update. My update didn't complete until I uninstalled them.

Current version of nVidia web drivers don't work with this update; they must be uninstalled before updating (and not reinstalled afterward). Better would be to wait until a new version of the nVidia drivers are released.

Can't seem to update. After it downloads from the App Store and reboots, I choose the Install MacOS Partition and I get the White Apple logo on a black screen and the progress bar freezes at about 50%. I can hard reboot and choose the main partition to get back to the desktop, but no update was applied. So...I am screwed for taking future updates until I can figure this out.

Note: I upgraded from Sierra to High Sierra and I am on APFS

Ok. Finally I figure it out how to install update to APFS system.

If you install all kext to L/E or S/L/E on post installation process especially primary kext such as FakeSMC, IntelGraphicsFixup and Lilu(this is for my system cause I don't have discrete Graphics Card) you must to move it back these kexts to CLOVER/kext/others. Then remove the EmuVariableUefi-64.efi if you are using it. Otherwise you will get this error when you choose "Boot MacOS Install from High Sierra"

I'm getting the same error. I've had a look in
/System/Library/Extensions
and can't see FakeSMC.kext nor the IntelGraphicsFixup, nor EmuVariableUefi-64.efi.

Checking
/Library/Extensions
does have
FakeSMC.kext

my disks are laid out like this:

Simons-iMac:~ voigtstr$ diskutil list

/dev/disk0 (internal, physical):

#: TYPE NAME SIZE IDENTIFIER

0: GUID_partition_scheme *500.1 GB disk0

3: Apple_Boot Recovery HD 650.0 MB disk5s3

4: Apple_HFS Time Machine 999.9 GB disk5s4

Mounting /dev/disk0 with EFI Mounter v3 and looking in
/Volumes/EFI/EFI/CLOVER/kexts/other
already shows a FakeSMC.kext from 9 sep 2016.

Will that get referenced from the boot up, or do I need to move it elsewhere?

(note the update broke Audio then gave me the message it couldn't install... nice! )

Edit: removed the FakeSMC.kext from /Library/Extensions and I still get the message about not being able to install the update.

After complete these kext things download manual installer or install update from Appstore. First restart you must to choose "Boot MacOS Install from High Sierra" (Clover choose this automatically, if not choose manually.) You will see now High Sierra installer wait, its finish in couple of minutes then restart automatically on this second restart you must to choose your Primary HD I mean "Boot MacOS from High Sierra" (Clover choose this automatically too, if not choose manually again) now installer finish second stage of update and you will boot without any problem.
