Today Apple released macOS 11.7.7 Update, a major software update to macOS Big Sur. Update any supported system using the built-in Software Update functionality through the macOS System Preferences pane.

What we know about the 11.7.7 Update so far...

• macOS Build 20G1345
• Install macOS Big Sur App has been updated - If you downloaded macOS Big Sur from the App Store prior to today, and you want to have the latest version on your backup installer USB, simply log into the Mac App Store and click Download. The updated Install macOS Big Sur App can be found in the Applications folder.

macOS Big Sur 11.7.7 — Restart Required

This update provides important security fixes and is recommended for all users.

Pre Update Notes:
- This update may break some of your Big Sur functions. Make sure you backup first.

Note: Before you update, make sure your USB ports are properly mapped. I recommend you use this procedure:

Here's the step by step way to update OC:

Spoiler: Option 1 - Manually

- Make sure you use the latest versions of the Lilu.kext, AppleALC.kext and WhateverGreen.kext.

Backup your current installation using Carbon Copy Cloner or SuperDuper;

Update to the latest Clover or OpenCore 0.9.1 or newer.

Download OCAuxiliaryTools (OCAT):

After completing the Update, reboot.
Upon reaching the Desktop, open the Terminal and execute:

nvram 4D1FDA02-38C7-4A6A-9CC6-4BCCA8B30102:opencore-version

Confirm you have updated OC to 0.9.1 or newer.

Download the Big Sur 11.7.7. Update from Apple's Mac App Store using System Preferences > Software Update, and run it - the updater will reboot upon completion.

Note: Update will reboot three times; each time Clover/OpenCore picks the correct boot partition. So, sit back and relax. The update takes 3 reboots and ~30 minutes to complete.​

Done! So far, another easy update!

It looks like we are few people still running Big Sur.
I have just updated to 11.7.7 my RyzenPRO machine (Ryzen 9 5900X + Gigabyte B550 Vision D-P and Radeon RX 580 Sapphire Nitro+), three reboots as usual, about 25 minutes.

OC is 0.9.2.

I don't know if related to 11.7.7, but I have recently experienced SSDs disappearing a little while after booting. They are connected to an Addonics Quad mSata PCIe card (model AD4MSPX2-A). 2x are SoftRAID but 1x is normal APFS MacOS format and they both disappear so not SoftRAID driver related. I wonder if OC PCIe AHCI kexts or something has been affected by 11.7.7. Definitely had no issues on 11.7.5 (unsure about 11.7.6)
