macOS 10.15 Catalina is Now Available on the Mac App Store

I did the direct update from Mojave to Catalina, but now the audio has stopped working. My motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-Z97X-UD5H with an ALC1150 audio chip. How can I solve it?

We have basically the same exact build... the GTX 960 is a Maxwell video card... is your video working using the card?

If you attempt the installation in verbose mode and see "apfs_module_start:1683", see Post #264.

After being initially stuck on "Estimating time remaining..", i decided to just leave it going all night. After doing a hard reset, the final installation stage actually progressed and finished. Kind of an annoying way to get the install working, but for those that are "stuck", I recommend giving your install time to do its thing.

I updated AppleALC, Lilu etc and no sound
Asus z170a integrated sound
was working ok on Mojave

ok solved
quoting myself, kext needs to be installed on library/extension instead of EFI
for that download the kext you need with Hackintool
On tab installed ( check in this case appleALC, maybe need Lilu too )
select all red lines (would be old kext that need upgrade)
click download button and they will be downloaded to desktop folder
then go to tools tab and click disable gatekeeper
then click install kext button and select the downloaded kext one by one
install all, they should go to library extension, no problem if you get some permission error on log
restart
done, sound working

I was able to install it completely but i cannot boot to it to save my life. I just get a blank screen.
im running an rx570 which should have native support...
Please help!

also now that ive installed it i cannot even reinstall fresh mojave

Update like a real mac straight from Mojave.
The update process took about 40 minutes and 2 restarts.
Have not updated to the latest clover version. Current version 4934.
The sound survived as well.

Very smooth update.
