From my working experience, even a tiny fix may require a wide revision. That is why I’m unsurprised about the huge size for a supplemental update.

My first experience of doing macOS update (previously only waiting for x.x.6 and doing fresh install). From 10.15.5 to 10.15.5 Supplemental Update in a machine of i9-9900 and Sapphire RX5500XT using OpenCore 0.5.8 and latest Lilu et. al. A smooth update experience that took around 25minutes or so with some restarts (anxiously waiting if it will fail or not) and apparent inactivity of the system at some part of the update process.

There are misguided people who think that using a working serial number will help with their inability to implement Messages etc.
