check that you have enough disk space before you start (macOS Catalina requires not less than 16GB)
if you are running out of disk space, the update process seems to be OK, but it will go back to the old version
Thanks, that was it!

It's really weird that it doesn't prevent starting the installation process when you have too little free space TBH...

Followed the directions, migrated the kexts, update went fast, 3 reboots and done.

I'm still on High Sierra, this update went without any problems.

You'll need to use "Clover Configurator" to mount the EFI folder, then copy the extra kexts from /Library/Extensions/ to EFI/.../Clover/kexts/Other/. Then delete the old kexts from /Library/Extensions/, and rebuild the MacOS Cache using the code mentioned.

You may want to have a quick read on Clover Configurator first, before attempting the upgrade. Good luck! :)
EFI Mounter and Hackintool are also options for mounting the EFI partition.

Is Apple "Mail" the only Programm in /Applications, which got updated?

I had to choose manually 3 times the "macOS-Install..." Partition, every time it automatically would have booted from "Macintosh SSD". Bootloader Clover 5103.

:ch: Starting in February 2020, Apple will "clamp down" on non Apple approved kexts.

@Stork just out of curiosity: do you have any sources for this information?
