macOS 10.14.2 Update

Update went very well. It rebooted 3 times for me. Don't panic when it does. ;0)

Update went smooth. So much easier now that I switched to the rx 590

Overall I feel the RX 580 was totally worth it, and that the “AMDs don’t work with Adobe products” is an absolute myth. I’ve noticed huge difference in performance. Will probably not go back to an Nvidia again. You will need the Lilu and WhateverGreen kexts though, preferably even on the Installer thumb drive (in Kexts/Other) folder should you need to clean install at some point. It can help prevent the black screen during installation.

The only reason I would recommend an Nvidia instead of an AMD, is if you are using Adobe Premiere in Windows, but even then: Windows and Premiere Pro suck... big time! For some stupid reason, Premiere Pro in Windows uses the on-board Intel graphics for rendering, color grading, playback and exporting, and I did tests with the Nvidia and then the AMD card, both are only used at max 15% of their power, even when I completely disabled the HD630!

In macOS, I get 100% usage! I hate Windows so bad!

Thanks for giving a detailed review! I only use my hackintosh as a mac so I definitely don’t need an Nvidia. I hate windows so much. I’m only using the 660 because I had it literally laying around my house. Probably gonna grab a rx580 this weekend.

I just switched from the GTX 970 which was hardly being utilized by Premiere Pro, etc. Now I have the RX 590, and I see Premiere utilizing the memory and processor all the time now with Metal.

Just a touch of humor about most posts here coming from RX 580 owners, a narrowing of graphic cards I've never seen in a general thread before, and the terrific lapse of NVIDIA for not issuing a working web driver for their 9 or 10 series cards at least (the hang-up might be the ray tracing of the 20 series)--not a knock on Apple, since this looks square on NVIDIA. If they haven't issued the web driver when Navi RX 3080 comes out, I'll switch then. The 14.2 update shows the worth of switching to AMD.

Anyone having trouble with Final Cut Pro 10.4.4 crashing the computer? I'm also having trouble with my USB, my custom SSDT file is there but for whatever reason I'm showing all HS ports in IORegistryExplorer and only 1 SS. I also am noticing random crashes, where system reboots, and sometimes just hangs up with a checkered transparent purple pattern on screen, until I force reboot.. Attached is the Crash Report after Final Cut crashed the PC and rebooted..
