macOS 10.13.6 Update

Hello -

This is something that has always happened after every point update. This is from an attempt to run the 10.13.6 update.

The update runs fine. But as soon as the update finished, the reboot would always end up like this. To clarify, it would boot into the clover booter and that would operate just fine. But once the hard drive is selected then no reboot would ever take place after. The machine would stay in this state. And it would happen just about immediately.

I've made sure I was running the latest clover build.

I have tried looking on the boards. But I haven't found anyone who has had the same issue.

The only thing that fixes the issue (if this is a clue as to the problem) is that before I run the update I have cloned the entire drive. Once I restore from the backup then everything boots back up just fine.

Gigabyte Z-170 Gaming 6
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4095 MB
6700K i7
16GB
500gB SSD
10.13.5

Any help anyone could recommend would be wonderful.

Thank you

So finally have the nerves to upgrade my hackintosh laptop from 10.13.3 to 10.13.6.

I've made a backup image from my system.

So should I update Clover first or just go ahead and update the 10.13.6 from Apple Store?

Hi,

I am new to vanilla builds. I am running a hack dual boot with windows 10. I would like to install the updates however.. When my computer restarts, it always auto boots to Windows. I have to press f12 to get to clover and then select Mac Os High Sierra ( Sorry in advance, I am a noob but am learning fast ).

So this is what happens when I try to update..

I click install 10.13.6. Run the installer and install the updates and restart. However as I have said my hack defaults to Windows ( something I don't want and need to learn how to change ).. So I press f12 to get to clover and boot from my mac drive as normal. But when arrive I am not running 10.13.6, I am still on 10.13.4 which is my original install.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Like I say, I am new to Hackintosh Vanilla installs so bear with me.

Update, I have discovered how to make clover my default boot and I have mac os booting auto. So i am going to try to update again now. Fingers Crossed...

Final Update..

Install from app store was smooth and painless all working. 10.13.6

If you are new to hackintosh and discover you have the same issue I had just read the guides thoroughly before posting :)

Thanks for the tip. Did the same. A few reboots and I was back in business, without AUDIO - happens often. I always have my successful MultiBeast on the desk top and reload the last successful configurations followed by a re-boot. Audio back. Using Clover 4458.
Thanks to all who post on this forum, it is completely invaluable when upgrading or needing other resources or help.
BTW - the upgrade to AMD Radeon RX 570 was a snap...

Guys, I found the solution for strange fonts.

OS X thinks my monitor is a TV, and is using the YCbCr colour space rather than RGB. It happened with my RX560.

Follow this instruction for RGB.

To disable SIP:
  1. Open config.plist in Clover Configurator
  2. Navigate RT Variables > CsrActivateConfig
  3. Change CsrActivateConfig to appropriate value
    1. Disable SIP: 0x67
    2. Enable SIP: 0x00
  4. Reboot Hackintosh to apply changes
Any way to undo this script?

did the combo update
downloaded the latest clover and nvidia web driver
installed with no issues
Are you referring to 10.13.6 or Mojave?

Today Apple released macOS 10.13.6, a major software update to macOS High Sierra. Update any supported system using the built-in Software Update functionality through the Mac App Store, or by using the standalone installer available from Apple.com.

Be sure to back up any important data, and if possible clone your hard drive before applying the update. If you have any issues post-update, press spacebar, and boot using Safe Mode.

What we know about 10.13.6 so far...
  • macOS Build 17G65
  • Updated apfs.efi - download here
  • Updated Intel, NVIDIA, and AMD graphics drivers
    • NVIDIA Alternate Graphics Drivers have been updated for macOS High Sierra 10.13.6 Update.
  • This update will replace your audio drivers. If you enabled Realtek onboard audio using MultiBeast or the cloverALC script, no changes will be necessary.
  • Install macOS High Sierra App has been updated - If you downloaded macOS High Sierra from the App Store prior to today, and you want to have the latest version on your backup installer USB, simply log into the Mac App Store and click Download. The updated Install macOS High Sierra App can be found in the Applications folder.
Testing is now underway- this post will be updated. Good luck, and let us know how it goes! Report your results here.

I want to update 10.13.6 though appstore.app

1) I used apfs format while installing 10.13.3 on my SSD,
... but at the boot screen , drives showing as HFS drive.
... but at "diskutility.app" showing as APFS Volume.
... Which is correct ?

2) Please tell me,
... what steps have to do before updating to 10.13.6 through appstore ?
... Do i have to edit any files? or else?

10 days before i read this all forum, I just clicked update in appstore.app , 10.13.6 is updated successfully but audio isn't work. Then i downloaded updated MultiBeast 14.0 version and installed as following..

Restarted
MultiBeast Configuration -
Quick Start > Clover UEFI Boot Mode
Drivers > Audio > Realtek ALCxxx > 100 / 200 / 300 Series Audio Support
Drivers > Audio > Realtek ALCxxx > 200 / Z370 Series / X299 Audio Device ID Patch Drivers > Misc > FakeSMC
Bootloaders > Clover UEFI Boot Mode
Customize > System Definitions > iMac > iMac 14,2 Customize > Graphics > Intel HD 6xx
Customize > Graphics > Intel Graphics Fixup

Restarted
Drivers > Audio > Realtek ALCxxx > ALC887/888b

So, I installed 10.13.3 clean installation.

This time i want your help. Please help me.

You should replace realtek ALC Drivers and use AppleALC instead plus injecting audio through your clover plist (Devices>Audio>Inject=1), and replace Intel Graphics Fixup with Whatevergreen, i had the same issue with my ALC887, no injection after 10.13.5 update, now im using Onboard Audio + HDMI Intel Audio via Lilu + AppleALC + Whatevergreen.

This method is shown in my build thread, i dont use multibeast anymore, you should try a clean install using HFS instead of APFS with direct clover bootloader installation and edition, install just the neccesary EFI drivers, and install your kexts manually.
