    Today Apple released macOS High Sierra 10.13.4 Security Update, a major software update to macOS High Sierra. Update any supported system using the built-in Software Update functionality through the Mac App Store, or by using the standalone installer available from Apple.com.

    Be sure to back up any important data, and if possible clone your hard drive before applying the update. If you have any issues post-update, press spacebar, and boot using Safe Mode.

    What we know about 10.13.4 Security Update 2018-001 so far...
    • macOS Build 17E202
    • Updated apfs.efi for 10.13.4 Security Update
    • Updated Intel, NVIDIA, and AMD graphics drivers
      • NVIDIA Alternate Graphics Drivers have been updated for macOS High Sierra 10.13.4 Security Update.
        • Method to use existing NVIDIA drivers here.
    • This update will replace your audio drivers. If you enabled Realtek onboard audio using MultiBeast or the cloverALC script, no changes will be necessary.
    • If boot stalls upon update, install FakeSMC.kext in /Volumes/EFI/EFI/CLOVER/kexts/Other. This is default as of MultiBeast 10.2
    • Install macOS High Sierra App has not been updated.
    Testing is now underway- this post will be updated. Good luck, and let us know how it goes! Report your results here.

    Pre Update Notes:
    - This update may break some of your High Sierra functions, like audio and the nVidia Web drivers. Make sure you backup first.:thumbup:

    - If you're using nVidia drivers for your GeForce GTX 750, 750Ti, 960, 970, 980, 980 Ti, Titans 'Maxwell' and GTX 10x0 "Pascal" graphics cards, you'll need to install the nVidia 10.13.4 Web driver(s) after the 10.13.4 Security Update - Not yet available.
    - Method to use existing NVIDIA drivers here.

    - For those who are using the MacPro6,1, iMac15,1, iMac17,1 or iMac18,x system definitions may need to re-apply the black screen fix. The updates to the Lilu.kext, WhateverGreen.kext and NvidiaGraphicsFixup.kext are not out; when available, they will be in the Downloads > Kexts area.

    Please post help requests in the High Sierra Desktop Support Forum section (not in this thread).

    Here's the step by step way to update for those who aren't using the Nvidia Maxwell/Pascal graphics cards. For Nvidia Maxwell card users, see below
    :ch: Backup your current installation using Carbon Copy Cloner or SuperDuper;
    :ch: Update to the latest Clover: Downloads > Clover Builds.
    :ch: Update your apfs.efi according to tonymacx86s guide How to Update + Current and Past apfs.efi Downloads;
    :ch: Download the High Sierra 10.13.4 Security Update in Post #1 or the Security Update from Apple's Mac App Store and run it - the updater will reboot upon completion;
    :ch: Upon rebooting into High Sierra after the last reboot, you can:
    :ch: Check to see if your audio is working. If not, restart. Still no audio, post to No Audio Devices - AppleHDA Realtek Audio,
    :ch: (Optional) Update to the latest version of Clover,
    :ch: (Optional) Check to see if your TRIM setting has survived through the update (About this Mac > System > System Report > SATA/SATA Express) - if not, use the "trimforce" Terminal command (1); if you've used the "trimforce" command in 10.13.2, then it should "survive" the update, but check to make sure; and
    :ch:Re-boot.

    For Nvidia Maxwell/Pascal graphic cards users (see 2nd and 3rd note above), you'll need to do the following once the Nvidia web driver is released for the 10.13.4 Security Update (Not out, yet. Wait to update):
    :ch: Backup your current installation using Carbon Copy Cloner or SuperDuper;
    :ch: Update to the latest Clover: Downloads > Clover Builds.
    :ch: Update your apfs.efi according to tonymacx86s guide How to Update + Current and Past apfs.efi Downloads;
    :ch: Modify your /EFI/EFI/Clover/config.plist file to replace the USB port limits patch with the patch in Post #84;
    :ch: Download the High Sierra 10.13.4 Security Update in Post #1 or use the Mac App Store.
    :ch: Download the latest Nvidia web driver for 10.13.4 Update (Not yet available!)
    Method to use existing NVIDIA drivers here.
    :ch: Run the High Sierra 10.13.4 Security Update - the updater will reboot upon completion;
    :ch: Check to see if your audio is working. If not, restart. Still no audio, post to No Audio Devices - AppleHDA Realtek Audio.

    1 Use the new Terminal trimforce command in the following manner:
    Code (Text):
    sudo trimforce enable

    denovo and gothic like this.

    Changes buildnumber but patching the Nvidia webdriver still works, otherwise everything went well with the update.

    @tonymacx86 could you delete the thread I started on the same subject? :)

    Update works fine via App Store. Takes about 10 minutes and reboots on it's own twice.

    It works fine without updating the apfs.efi first.

    Updated my main and side without any steps. No apfs.efi, which for me at least, has the same checksum and size in both versions. No problems.
