Status

After many previous issues, I ended up with a fresh new install of HighSierra (download does the store and created the install with unibeast). I had it up and running when this update came and went so easy that I am still wondering what could be wrong!! even the sound worked! crazy smooth just long install.... (I did have fakeSMC.kext on the EFI drive)

Super smooth update for me.

Today Apple released macOS High Sierra 10.13.3 Update, a major software update to macOS High Sierra. Update any supported system using the built-in Software Update functionality through the Mac App Store, or by using the standalone installer available from Apple.com.

Be sure to back up any important data, and if possible clone your hard drive before applying the update. If you have any issues post-update, press spacebar, and boot using Safe Mode.

What we know about 10.13.3 so far...
  • macOS Build 17D47
  • Kernel updated to Darwin 17.4.0
  • Separate Update for iMac Pro: macOS Build 17D2047
  • Updated Intel, NVIDIA, and AMD graphics drivers
  • This update will replace your audio drivers. If you enabled Realtek onboard audio using MultiBeast or the cloverALC script, no changes will be necessary.
  • If boot stalls upon update, install FakeSMC.kext in /Volumes/EFI/EFI/CLOVER/kexts/Other. This is default as of MultiBeast 10.2.
  • Install macOS High Sierra App has been updated - If you downloaded macOS High Sierra from the App Store prior to today, and you want to have the latest version on your backup installer USB, simply log into the Mac App Store and click Download. The updated Install macOS High Sierra App can be found in the Applications folder.
Testing is now underway- this post will be updated. Good luck, and let us know how it goes! Report your results here.

Successfully updated from 10.13.2 from App Store:

1. Could not update video driver from the Nvidia panel, so had to install it separately.
2. After reboot, stuck on Apple logo.
3. After forced reboot, booted normally. No lag observed.
4. I immediately noticed a dramatic improvement in display scaling. I was considered getting a 4K monitor but the sharpness on my Lenovo L24Q-20 (2K) has improved so dramatically that I am staying with it.

Did anyone else notice the dramatic screen scaling improvement with this update? On a 2K
monitor, scaled back to 2048 x 1152, the screen has almost Retina quality.

Updated to 10.13.3, and installed the latest NVIDIA graphics driver (387.10.10.10.25.156). The result is a lag in window drawing, especially noticeable in Safari. I reverted to the previous NVIDIA driver (378.10.10.10.104) and cheated the build number to be able to use it (method to use older drivers).

That sounds that it can work, but when I change build number it says the same message in nVIDIA installer...

…no lag but now I get repeated system freezes. Preferred the lag, actually. Waiting for a fix in NVIDIA web driver.

I'm using 17,1 system definition. The Release Notes actually say that the driver update is for Mac Pro 5,1 and 4,1 and 3,1. BETA support is for iMac 14,2 / 14,3, iMac 13,1 / 13,2 (2012) and MacBook Pro 11,3 (2013), MacBook Pro 10,1 (2012), and MacBook Pro 9,1 (2012) users.
