Today Apple released 10.12.4, the fourth major update to macOS Sierra. Update any supported system using the built-in Software Update functionality through the Mac App Store, or by using the standalone installer available from Apple.com.

Be sure to back up any important data, and if possible clone your hard drive before applying the update. If you have any issues post-update, boot using UniBeast created USB, press spacebar, and boot using Safe Mode.

What we know about 10.12.4 so far...
  • macOS Build 16E195
  • Kernel updated to Darwin 16.5.0
  • Updated Intel, NVIDIA, and AMD graphics drivers
  • This update will replace your audio drivers. If you enabled Realtek onboard audio using MultiBeast or the cloverALC script, no changes will be necessary.
  • Install macOS Sierra App has been updated - If you downloaded macOS Sierra from the App Store prior to today, and you want to have the latest version on your backup installer USB, simply log into the Mac App Store and click Download. The updated 10.12.4 Install macOS Sierra App can be found in the Applications folder. You may then re-create your UniBeast installation USB.
Testing is now underway- this post will be updated. Good luck, and let us know how it goes! Report your results here.

Pre Update Notes:
- This update may break some of your Sierra functions, like audio and the nVidia Web drivers. Make sure you backup first.:thumbup:

- If you're using nVidia drivers for your GeForce GTX 750, 750Ti, 960, 970, 980, 980 Ti and the Titans 'Maxwell' graphics cards, you'll need to install the nVidia 10.12.4 Web driver(s) after the 10.12.4 update; link available in Post #1.

- Nvidia is now supporting the GTX 1050/1060/1070/1080/etc. Pascal graphics cards.

- For Samsung 950 M.2 NVMe SSD owners, you will need to await the update of RehabMan's patcher script and installation instructions.

- For those who are using the MacPro6,1, iMac15,1, or iMac17,1 system definitions may need to re-apply the black screen fix. Thanks to pantrychef who pointed this out in Post #14. Update: see pastrychef's post on the need to wait for the updates of the Lilu.kext and NvidiaGraphicsFixup.kext .

Update Procedure(s)

Here's the step by step way to update for those who aren't using the nVidia Maxwell graphics cards. For Nvidia Maxwell card users, see below
:ch: Backup your current installation using Carbon Copy Cloner or SuperDuper;
:ch: You will have to update to the latest version of Clover. See MacMan's Updated Clover Required for Kext Injection in macOS 10.12.4. Download and run the appropriate Clover update (Legacy or UEFI). Reboot.
:ch: Download the Software Update or Combo Update and run it to update to 10.12.4 - the updater will reboot upon completion;
:ch: Upon rebooting into Sierra, you can:
:ch: Check to see if your audio is working (If you enabled Realtek on-board audio using the latest MultiBeast for Sierra or toleda's CloverALC120 script, your audio should be OK),
:ch: (Optional) Check to see if your TRIM setting has survived through the update (About this Mac > System > System Report > NVMExpress or SATA/SATA Express) - if not, use the "trimforce" Terminal command (1); if you've used the "trimforce" command in El Capitan, then it should "survive" the update, but check to make sure; and
:ch:Re-boot
:ch: (Optional for Samsung 950 M.2 NVMe SSD owners) You will need to await the update of RehabMan's patcher script and installation instructions.

For Nvidia Maxwell graphic cards users (see 2nd and 3rd note above), you'll need to do the following:
:ch: Backup your current installation using Carbon Copy Cloner or SuperDuper;
:ch: You will have to update to the latest version of Clover. See MacMan's Updated Clover Required for Kext Injection in macOS 10.12.4. Download and run the appropriate Clover update (Legacy or UEFI). Reboot.
:ch: Download the Software Update or use the MAS update;
:ch: Run the Sierra 10.12.4 Mac App Store Update - the updater will reboot upon completion;
:ch: Upon rebooting, the Nvidia driver will prompt you to update to the latest driver and reboot when its completed it's installation;
:ch: (Optional for Samsung 950 M.2 NVMe SSD owners) See the Notes above on RehabMan's patch-nvme.
.

Please post help requests in the Sierra Desktop Support Forum section (not in this thread).

1 Use the new Terminal trimforce command in the following manner:
Code:
sudo trimforce enable

Tip for anyone having issues with 10.12.4:

The macOS Sierra 10.12.4 update requires Clover_v2.3k_r3994 or newer. Otherwise kext injection doesn't work and you may get issues with sound, graphics, etc.

A good way to get around this is to always install extra kexts to /Library/Extensions/, as MultiBeast does. Otherwise update Clover using the package installer:

https://sourceforge.net/p/cloverefiboot/code/HEAD/tree/

We'll be updating MultiBeast soon to make this easier.

EDIT: Updated Clover Packages available:

This time the update didn't work. Update installs, system reboots, then the Apple logo appears, the bar fills up and then I get a black screen :(

EDIT: Managed to fix it (thanks BreBO). Make sure to update clover before attempting to instal 10.12.4 (this should be added to the update procedure)

Both systems upgraded via Software Update.
No problems.

Dido!...on my MBP, too. No Nvidia web driver update, yet (as of this time/date).
