Just need some friendly advice on whether this would work...

I have a water damaged mac that is screwed.

At the moment i also want to get a new Macbook to replace my 2007 Macbook.

The water damaged mac is an i5 2.4ghz Macbook Pro, i was wondering whether i can swap the logic board with a same model i7 version.

I can easily replace the motherboard i was just wanted a second opinion on whether this would work ok.

I think it looks plausible.

Thanks for any help!

as they both are compatible with the same model Early 2011/Late 2011 A1278 13" Unibody Macbook Pro they should be interchangeable. the only thing I would double check would be if they both use the exact same heatsink. Perhaps the seller for the i7 logicboard still has the heatsink? might want to check with them, they might include it at no extra charge if you ask nicely.

Hi,

Don't forget also when you migrate to the new board you will need your serial number flashing on to it other wise service like imessage etc will not work. Apple stores will perform this for you FOC, i had a 2007 macbook pro done the other day and it was 4 years out of warranty :) That's the great service the apple stores will do :)

Cheers,
