Mac Pro Top Shelf Removal. HOW?

I'm just starting my next project, a Mac Pro mod. I want to remove the top shelf to separate the hard drive caddy's from the shelf.

I have removed the top shelf in a G5 Power Mac before but this seems more complicated. Has anyone got a Mac Pro shelf removal tutorial or tips on how to remove it or just remove the caddy part without removing the shelf altogether.

Hi there, did you ever figure out how to do this? I'm starting a conversion of a G5 case into a hackintosh and I would also like to remove the hard drive caddies, mainly because they are ugly and taking up a lot of space...I just cant figure out how to separate them from the top of the shelf.

The top shelf in a G5 and a Mac Pro are different, the Mac Pro has a two layer top shelf. The removal of the shelves in both models are almost the same but as you are working on a G5 here is a top shelf removal guide:

Were you able to figure out the shelf removal? I just removed the shelf from my Mac Pro last night so I can provide some assistance if you haven't yet been able to.
