Please give more detailed hardware specifications for your system, such as the exact kind of motherboard, the amount of RAM, the hard disk(s) and the graphics card (if any). It is difficult for others to help without this information.

Are you sure you are using a retail Snow Leopard DVD or one that comes with a real Mac? The latter won't work.
