For information on the security content of this update, please visit: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1222.

Please post all of your feedback on 10.6.8 on desktop hardware in this thread.

Here is the thread for laptop users, viewtopic.php?f=34&t=22886

General Troubleshooting Tips

If you can't boot:
1. Try booting with iBoot
2. If you ran Software Update, download and re-run the 10.6.8 Combo Update again

Things we've noticed about 10.6.8 so far:
1. GRAPHICS: Fermi users will NEED to Update their drivers BEFORE rebooting! You can download the latest here: http://www.nvidia.com/object/quadro-mac ... river.html

2. AUDIO: Apple has altered AppleHDA to break support for Realtek 889a- you will need to use AppleHDA Rollback through MultiBeast.

3. GENERAL: Download the full 10.6.8 Combo Update instead of the Software Update utility. Do not use Software Update on iMac or MacBook Pro smbios! MacPro3,1 users should be fine.

Installation failed on Z68X-UD7-B3 with DSDT from database.

After running the installer continued with the required reboot.
During the following updating process (progress bar quite close to the end, status info "aktualisierte Komponenten registrieren" (register updated components?)) a kernel panic occured (falling curtain).

Following reboot failed and caused prompt reboot after reaching the grey apple logo.

Tried with -x -v and could log in, but immediately thereafter another kernel panic.
See attached picture for details.

UPDATE:

Strange enough, just tried another reboot and it worked fine?!?
Will reinstall Audio and continue testing...

UPDATE II:

Serial ATA Intel Chipsets recognized.
Could not test 6 Gigabit speed yet, but looks promising...

UPDATE III:

Audio reinstalled as well as trim enabler. Seems to be stable.

Did the update and restarted, had KP at restart so all I did was hit power button and restart again and with no issues into 10.6.8

just done the update with no problems apart from havin to do sound again with multibeast all cool

I cannot boot into osx at all. Even with iboot. Am i screwed here?

Cool, I'll fire up my super duper, verify that my backup boot drive works and I'll do this update.

ALWAYS clone a working system to another partition, hard drive or thumb drive before doing any update.

Hmm... I guess I wasn't paying attention. My Vertex 3 (and entire system in general) is so ridiculously fast I didn't even consider that I wasn't getting 6 gigabit.

Are you seriously saying I might see even MORE performance improvements from my Vertex 3 with 10.6.8?

That's just insane... o_O

So theres no way for me to get into osx and run multibeast? I cannot even go in with safe mode. Seems weird to me.

Well back to windows then until lion hits.
