But my card is still recognized as a 5000.

It's just cosmetics, the main thing is that it's working!

Wouldnt it be easier to just roll back to the 10.6.6 ATI5000.kext ?

That's the way it shows up in real macs too. ATI 5000 Series.

It was conflicting KEXTS...I booted from CD into the OS and removed all kexts except for fakesmc and nullCPU Powermanagement.

Fixed for me.

I get "Unsupported intel processor found, kext will not load"
Even when i try to load with iBoot Legacy.
