I was able to get this update working by copying a 10.6.6 SB Kernel I found on Kexts.com. Otherwise I would get a black screen with Kernel Panic. I had to start fresh however, and install the 10.6.6 combo update as well. I just don't understand why this update is so desirable to have vs the other 10.6.7 update?

Thanks.

Vanilla kernel support?

Thanks.

I'm still new, so I'm not sure if we're asking the same question or you're answering with a question. So...

This post says this:
Today, iBoot has been updated to 3.0. Pick up the latest version at tonymacx86.com/downloads.

-Added 10.7.3 Kernel for native Sandy Bridge support
-Updated bootloader to Chimera v1.0.0
-Added iBoot Theme by Complx
I had thought 10.7.3 was vanilla kernel.

There's also the new multibeast with enhanced Sandybridge stuff.

Hence my question: is Sandy Bridge Helper now redundant?

What about Lion support from the new Multibeast 3.5? I saw somewhere that Chameleon RC5 v752 supports lion? Is that also true for Chimera?

Thanks.

We're not discussing Lion here til it's released, as per Apple's NDA. ;)

Apple's released a version of the 10.6.7 Update for Early 2011 iMacs.

http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1383

To Use:
Extract files using Pacifist and install.
http://www.charlessoft.com/

New Stuff:
-Darwin 10.7.4 kernel with Sandy Bridge Support
-New AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext
-Thunderbolt shows up in System Profiler
Thunderbolt.png

-Intel 6 Series Chipset showing up in System Profiler
6series.png

-New ATI Drivers: ex. ATI6000Controller 1.6.34.13 (9707)
-New NVIDIA Fermi Drivers: ex. NVDAGF100Hal 1.6.34.13 (256.02.05f01)

Initial Findings:
-iMac11,1 smbios gives speedstep and good Geekbench numbers (according to MSR Tools)
-MacPro3,1 (or kext edit) still necessary for proper 3d performance with NVIDIA drivers

NOTE: A second 10.6.7 Early 2011 MacBook Pro Update also released, same stuff is included.

UPDATE:
I'd have to recommend that people NOT install the entire update- it really is hardware-specific, and breaks things like optical and USB. If you need to install anything from this package, update by installing indiv. items through Pacifist. ;)

10.7.3 Kernel & Powermgmt kext installable through Bridgehelper.

Any word on the ATI kexts? Notshy was saying that rumor was that the update might include different ones. Was hoping to test them out, but if they're the same ones from the MBP update there's no use.
