I have a 5 year old MacMini that no longer works. I am interested in using the case to build a hackintosh. Has anybody done this? Are there ways to avoid possible overheating issues?

This will be my first build, however I have frequented the board for over a year.

Thanks in advance!

You gonna need a picopsu and an atom or small compatible laptop board to get it going otherwise your pretty much out of luck cause a mini itx wont fit in the mac mini case as far as I know.

If you had a 2010 and newer case, which is 7" x 7" x 1.4", then you could use an iTX slim motherboard which is 6.7" x 6.7" just over an inch high. It is tight but it is doable.

Previous Mac Mini cases were 6.5" x 6.5" x 2" and seeing the above iTX measurements you can see that it would not fit.

You could look at other options for the case like the Raspberry or something like that with a micro computer type application.
