Hi guys , I wanted to hear everyone's thoughts on this. Now that the M1 is so small inside the Mac Mini, maybe it will fit inside the base of the iMac G4.

I guess it's a matter of figuring out a way to output display to the original screen.

Love to hear your thoughts.

It will absolutely fit, but you're going to have fun connecting the display. Also keep in mind that display is probably 1024x768, so unless you want to mod in a new panel you're going to be running next gen hardware on a decades old screen (the M1 can push up to 6k). You may be able to find a panel that matches the size, though, in which case I say do it, that imac design is one of my favorites.

(Also you're gonna want to do a little modding of the base to get the cooling right, but the M1 does run significantly cooler than the previous i3 version)

the 20" iMac ran at 1680x1050, I believe. But it's still a bit small.
