I am really delighted your work, will you show the current photos?

Thank you hasajacykacperek. Yeah, it's hard to find these old computers without some degree of wear and tear on them. Mine isn't perfect, it definitely has blemishes... I just like to chalk it up to character. I'm afraid that if I attempted to refinish the entire thing, I would inevitably have small mistakes here and there that would drive me crazy.

I wish the usb-c thing worked out, but I couldn't get it to work right.

I don't have any new pics at the moment, but I have made more progress. Currently I'm waiting on a gtx 1070 to come (fingers crossed, the last deal on one completely fell apart on me) and some braided line. I'm going to braid my sata, sata power extension, and usb3 cable to match the other braided lines I have. I just plasti dipped them today (had to, or else the color would show through the braiding).

Oh, also completely ripped off balazs631's idea with the cover on the top shelf.

More to come. Just things are taking forever.

After much, much effort; and even much, much more time:

Ok, this time I'm done fer real fer real. I just didn't like the painted pci covers so I ordered nice shiny ones. Unfortunately the usb3 card had a black plate originally, which was the entire reason I attempted to paint them all silver. So I sanded the usb3 card down to bare steel and then polished it. A coating of gear lube to protect it, and bam! I think I'm actually done now.

easily one of the best jobs I've ever come across. The clean flush look on the back, it was worth the effort. Looks just amazing.

Looks beautiful! How did you match the back so perfectly? Was it a custom mix for the paint color? Or something store bought?

Thank you so much Figaro. There were times I thought to myself "Self, what the heck did you get into?"

I'm glad I stuck to it though.

Thank you sir. I was definitely inspired by the many great builds on this forum. Just trying to follow in their footsteps.

For the most part I am happy with how the paint came out.... But on the side, that bottom part just stands out too much imho. I really want to give it another try with Rustoleum's Satin Nickel Metallic.

These are what I used though:

But I don't know. Silver is just hard, let alone silver metallic. I may try again when it gets warmer around where I live.

Btw if anybody wants to try to clear over a silver metallic, it is easy to mess up. You have to let the silver flash off. It says to wait a little on the can, but really you need to wait a bunch more. I think I did anywhere between half an hour to an hour before applying the clear. And even then, if you apply the clear too heavy, you will mess up the metallic silver underneath.
