List of Macs that can run macOS Ventura:
  • ¡Mac 2017 and later
  • ¡Mac Pro 2017
  • MacBook Air 2018 and later
  • MacBook Pro 2017 and later
  • Mac Pro 2019 and later
  • Mac mini 2018 and later
  • MacBook 2017 and later
For comparison these are the Macs that currently run macOS Monterey:
  • iMac (late 2015 and later)
  • iMac Pro (2017 and later)
  • Mac Mini (late 2014 and later)
  • Mac Pro (late 2013 and later)
  • MacBook (early 2016 and later)
  • MacBook Air (early 2015 and later)
  • MacBook Pro (early 2015 and later)

As the lifespan is narrowed down to five years in terms of getting the latest macOS, Intel-based Macs should be supported until macOS 15 or 16 unless a new Intel-based Mac Pro is released later.

It’s not that bad, as Windows 11 supports CPUs in 2017 and later too.

I've been guessing last Intel Mac to be supported with be with the 2025 release. By then I imagine most software will have some kind of Universal and we lose Rosetta 2.

They didn't list the Mac Studio as supported. Am I assuming that is now quickly obsolete too? I mean that was only released 3 months ago!

Clearly an oversight in wording but they didn't QA apparently. Joking aside, it doesn't change they dropped older machines over 5 years old.

Yup, that's what I noticed. It seems a number of Intel Macs from 2017 were dropped too.

Okay the webpage is updated and Mac Studio is no longer outdated within 3 months.

MacBook Air models in 2017 are dropped, the last pre-Retina ones.

Also noticed how Apple used the terms of years. Mac Studio in only 2022 is supported, but Mac Pro is described as 2019 and later. A hint of upcoming new Mac Pros?
